Chapter 132

Vivian hadn't forgotten to add one last jab. "Don't let her lies fool you again!"

Fool him?

In her eyes, Nathan had clearly been ensnared by Evelyn. And Evelyn was nothing but a conniving seductress who had stolen his heart.

Evelyn crossed her arms, her expression cool and detached, as if Vivian's accusations had nothing to do with her.

Nathan tilted Evelyn's chin up, his lips quirking slightly. "Is it true?"

Evelyn remained silent.

But to everyone watching, Mr. Goldmann didn’t seem angry at all.

Evelyn exhaled sharply. "Yes, I was at that man’s place for an hour last night."

Vivian hadn’t expected her to admit it so easily. She seized the opportunity to fan the flames. "Nathan, you heard her! I wasn’t lying. She’s—"

"What did you do in that hour?" His voice was dangerously calm.

"Everything that needed to be done." Evelyn smirked.

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Is she trying to get herself killed?

Nathan’s jaw tightened. Without warning, he scooped her up into his arms.

"Ah! What are you—Nathan Goldmann, put me down right now, you jerk!" Evelyn thrashed, her face burning.

He’s carrying me in front of everyone like some damsel!

Nathan ignored her protests and strode straight to her office.

Left behind, Vivian stood frozen, humiliation creeping up her neck.

Why isn’t he furious? He should be livid!

"It doesn’t look like Mr. Goldmann is angry at Ms. Vanderbilt at all," someone murmured.

"More like jealous, if you ask me. Someone’s little scheme backfired."

"Shut your mouths! You know nothing!" Vivian snapped.

The staff exchanged glances before dispersing, leaving her alone, trembling with rage.

Damn it! The Goldmanns can’t possibly accept a shameless woman like her after what’s been exposed!

Inside the office—

Nathan dropped Evelyn onto the desk. She swung at him, furious. "Have you lost your mind? You know where I was last night. If you actually believe her, then you should just—Mmph!"

He silenced her with a searing kiss, biting her lower lip. "Then why did you answer like that on purpose?"

He knew exactly where she’d been—Edmund Lincoln’s place. Vivian’s words meant nothing to him.

She just wanted to provoke me.

"Let me go!"

"No."

Evelyn tried to kick him, but he caught her leg, sending her off-balance. She fell back onto the desk, dragging him down with her.

Her breath hitched.

Her hair fanned out beneath her, messy and wild. Nathan’s gaze darkened, desire flaring in his eyes.

"Do you know what I want to do right now?" His voice was rough.

Evelyn shivered, suddenly aware of the heat between them. She pushed against his chest. "You promised you wouldn’t force me!"

"I changed my mind."

The hunger in his eyes was unmistakable—predatory, possessive.

Evelyn realized too late that she’d played with fire. She should never have provoked him.

"Zoe..." He dipped his head, capturing her lips again.

A shudder ran through her.

If this continues, I’m done for.

"N-Not here—Nathan, wait! I can... help you." The words tumbled out in a rush, her cheeks burning.

She wasn’t ready—couldn’t imagine crossing that line yet. But right now, she’d say anything to escape.

Nathan’s smirk was wicked. "Are you sure?"

Evelyn refused to meet his eyes, nodding stiffly.

Outside, no one could guess what was happening behind closed doors. But for Evelyn, every second was torture—shameful, electrifying, and utterly inescapable.
