Chapter 244
Adrian had mentioned before that he had a particular preference for jewelry pieces, and he'd explained that the production team initially wanted to use imitation props when he joined the project.
But he believed that fake accessories wouldn’t deliver the same authentic visual impact to the audience.
He insisted on using real jewelry.
The production budget didn’t allow for such an extravagant expense, so Adrian decided to cover the cost himself.
This arrangement also served as excellent publicity for Evelyn’s brand, and since he was footing the bill, why wouldn’t she be thrilled?
Evelyn smiled. "Alright, we’ll have our team deliver the pieces to your set when the time comes."
"Thank you." Adrian nodded and left with his entourage after finalizing the order.
Evelyn glanced at the receipt in her hand, then turned to see Nathan lounging on the sofa in the corner, arms crossed.
She paused, watching as the staff dispersed, then approached him.
Leaning down, she waved a hand in front of his face. "Nathan, are you okay?"
"No, I’m not." His voice was flat as he reclined further into the cushions.
‘Can’t she tell I’m waiting for her to coax me?’
Evelyn suppressed a laugh. Nathan was acting more and more like Caleb and Daisy—sulking until he got attention.
Only when he was serious did he resemble Liam.
‘The kids really did inherit his traits in the most unpredictable ways.’
"Have you eaten?" she asked.
Nathan pressed his lips together, glaring at her in silence.
Evelyn straightened. "Alright, I’ll take that as a no. Let’s go grab something to eat."
His brows lifted slightly. "That’s it?"
‘She thinks a meal is enough to make up for this?’
"If you don’t want to, then never mind."
Nathan exhaled sharply and stood. "No, I’m coming."
Just then, Oliver appeared at the door, holding a lunchbox. "Mr. Goldmann, you’re still here. Should I bring in the meal that Ms. Summers prepared for you?"
The air instantly turned icy.
Evelyn glanced at the lunchbox, then back at Nathan, a smirk tugging at her lips. "Oh, so your dear childhood friend already brought you food? I’ll go eat alone, then."
Without another word, she turned and walked out.
Nathan shot Oliver a murderous glare. "You really have a talent for saying the wrong thing at the worst time."
Oliver paled. ‘What did I do?’
Laura opened her door, expecting to see York. Instead, she was met with a sharp slap before she could even register who stood before her.
"Laura Scott, you homewrecking snake! How dare you seduce York?!" Yvette snarled, shoving Laura to the ground.
She straddled her, fists flying—slapping, scratching, yanking her hair.
Laura cried out in pain. "Yvette Warren, have you lost your mind?! Who told you I seduced him?!"
Yvette forced her to look at the photos on her phone. "Liar! I knew something was off—York’s been distant, ignoring my calls while his son faces prison! And now I find out it’s because of you, you shameless tramp!"
"Yvette, you’ve got it all wrong—"
Another slap cut her off.
Yvette had snapped—her son’s downfall, her husband’s betrayal with her own sister-in-law.
"I’ll make sure everyone sees what a disgrace you are!"
Laura was no match for Yvette’s fury.
Her clothes were torn, face swollen, eyes bruised, hair a tangled mess—her dignity stripped bare.
