Chapter 315
Nathan's tender gaze lingered on Evelyn, a deep sense of satisfaction curling in his chest.
I've tamed my little wildcat perfectly.
He pulled her fingers to his lips, pressing a soft kiss against them. His eyes darkened with a dangerous glint of desire.
"Would you ever step foot in a bar again?" His voice was low, teasing.
Evelyn rolled her eyes. "No, I won’t."
"Promise?"
She yanked her hand away with an exasperated huff. "Yes, now can we eat?"
A sharp knock interrupted them.
Nathan’s expression cooled instantly. "Come in."
Rosalind stepped inside, clutching a stack of documents. The moment her eyes landed on Evelyn seated beside Nathan, a flicker of disgust twisted her features before she schooled them back into neutrality.
"Is there something urgent?" Nathan’s tone was ice.
Rosalind forced a tight smile. "The meeting with Gleaming Mountain Inc. is starting soon."
Nathan turned to Evelyn, his gaze softening. "Zoe, want to join me?"
Evelyn blinked. What?
Rosalind’s nails dug into her palms. "Nathan," she interjected, voice strained, "Ms. Vanderbilt isn’t a Luxe employee. It’s highly unprofessional for her to attend."
Nathan smirked, ruffling Evelyn’s hair like she was a pampered pet. "Zoe adores being by my side. I want everyone to know she’s mine. That way, no one dares disrespect her."
Evelyn’s jaw dropped.
You’re the one who can’t let go!
Nathan’s teasing grin only widened, completely ignoring Rosalind’s presence.
The sight of their intimacy shattered the icy mask Rosalind wore.
All of this should have been mine.
News of Nathan bringing Evelyn to the meeting spread like wildfire through Luxe.
Every executive had witnessed it firsthand—Nathan Goldmann, the untouchable CEO, declaring to the entire boardroom that Evelyn Vanderbilt, owner of Soul Jewelry, was his fiancée and part of his family.
Though rumors had circulated before, nothing compared to the shockwaves this caused.
"Did you see how Ms. Summers looked? I bet Ms. Vanderbilt only tagged along because she’s threatened by her."
"That’s not what I heard. Mr. Goldmann insisted she come!"
"Honestly, it’s obvious. Ms. Zoe doesn’t seem the clingy type. If anything, it’s him who can’t let her go."
"I envy her so much. No one else gets that kind of treatment from Nathan Goldmann."
The whispers died the second Rosalind appeared.
Everyone knew she was temporarily filling in as Nathan’s assistant. No one dared cross her.
Rosalind’s eyes darkened.
Evelyn won’t get to play the victor for long.
"That bastard!" Theodore Goldmann slammed the newspaper onto his desk, fury radiating off him.
Rosalind watched, satisfaction curling in her chest, but she kept her voice gentle. "Grandfather, Nathan clearly adores Ms. Vanderbilt. Maybe we should respect his choice?"
She feigned reluctance. "Even if you prefer me, forcing them apart isn’t right."
"Adores her?" Theodore scoffed. "He could have anyone, yet he chooses the daughter of that Armas scum? That woman will bring ruin to the Goldmanns!"
