Chapter 35
"$150,000,000 isn't enough for you to waste."
Evelyn stood frozen, speechless.
Caleb lowered his head, his small shoulders slumping. "We know how hard you work to provide for us. You don't have anyone to take care of you, so we wanted to help."
Liam nodded in agreement.
Seeing them act so grown-up at such a tender age twisted Evelyn's heart. She had poured everything into giving them the best life possible—even without a father, she refused to let them feel lesser than anyone.
Her children were wise beyond their years. Normally, that comforted her. But sometimes, she wished they'd lean on her more. It would make her feel needed.
She exhaled softly, forcing a smile. "I appreciate your intentions, but the entertainment industry is dangerous. Let's revisit this when you're older. Right now, it's no place for children."
That world was ruthless. Without protection, someone could easily exploit them.
"Time for bed," she said, ruffling their hair. "Growing kids need their rest."
Once in their rooms, Caleb and Liam huddled under the covers, whispering.
"Mom said no," Caleb murmured.
Liam tapped his chin, mimicking an adult's thoughtful pose. "She's worried we'll get taken advantage of. Without connections, we'd be vulnerable."
Caleb's eyes sparkled with sudden inspiration. "What if we befriend the biggest name in the industry?"
"You mean Adrian Boucher?"
"Exactly!" Caleb grinned. "But we'll need Aunt Sophia's help."
They might not know their father's identity yet, but they could certainly adopt a godfather just as impressive. In Zlokova, Adrian was that man.
Connections were everything. With the right allies, they could soar.

At Viana Jewelry...
A blond man in his forties strode through the lobby, his gray trench coat flaring behind him. Despite his age, his commanding presence turned heads.
He headed straight for the floor housing designer Zara's office.
When he entered, Evelyn swiveled her chair around and stood, smiling. "Uncle Gregory."
Gregory removed his sunglasses, surprise flickering across his face. "Zoe?"
"That's me." She nodded.
He stepped closer, studying her with warmth. "It's been years. You look more like your mother every day."
Over coffee, Evelyn updated him on Viana's situation. His expression darkened. "Viana was your mother's legacy. I've overseen it since her passing. I never imagined your father would hand it to someone like Vivian—a woman who knows nothing about jewelry."
He sipped his coffee, scowling. "He asked me to mentor her. I refused. How could Viana thrive under such incompetence?"
"That's why I brought you back." Evelyn's gaze hardened. "Now that I'm here, I'll reclaim Viana—no matter what it takes."
