Chapter 405

Chloe gasped in shock. "Wait, does Mr. Goldmann know you're coming?"

Evelyn wheeled her luggage toward the waiting cab. "That's exactly why I'm doing this - to surprise him."

At precisely 11:50 p.m., their flight to Zena departed on schedule. The ten-hour journey would land them at 10:00 a.m. local time. When Evelyn awoke mid-flight, dawn's golden light already painted the sky, revealing thick cotton-like clouds beneath the aircraft.

Right on time, the plane began its descent over Stoslo's sprawling metropolis. From this altitude, the towering skyscrapers resembled miniature toy blocks. The intricate network of streets below looked like delicate veins pulsing through the urban landscape.

The plane touched down at Zena International Airport thirty minutes later.

"My entire body aches after that marathon flight," Chloe groaned, dragging her carry-on behind Evelyn. This marked her first transcontinental journey.

Evelyn gave her companion's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "You'll adjust eventually."

Hailing a taxi outside the terminal, Evelyn leaned toward the driver's window. "Rosette Hotel, please," she said in flawless local dialect.

Having visited Zena multiple times before, Evelyn had wisely booked their accommodations online. A quick ID check at the front desk secured their reservation.

Chloe immediately tossed her bag aside and launched herself onto the plush king-sized bed, bouncing slightly upon impact. "Heaven! A real mattress after that torture chamber they called economy class."

Her eyes caught the bilingual signage above the bed. "Huh, they provide translations here?"

Evelyn organized their luggage while slipping into comfortable slippers. "The Rosette caters primarily to international clientele. The owner's actually from Cornelia originally."

As Zena's only six-star luxury hotel, Rosette commanded premium rates that attracted global business elites and wealthy travelers.

Satisfied with this explanation, Chloe stopped questioning. After resting until late afternoon, they reserved a private dining room at an exclusive Japanese restaurant nearby.

Evelyn had changed into a sophisticated beige pantsuit with a crisp white blouse, her signature long hair styled in loose twin braids. Her sleek black ankle boots accentuated her slender legs, completing the effortlessly chic ensemble.

Chloe cleared her throat discreetly. "Evelyn, just remember Mr. Goldmann isn't here to... supervise. Please don't do anything that might get my salary docked."

The unspoken thought hung between them - Nathan would skin her alive if Evelyn got involved with some foreign playboy.

Evelyn's lips curved mischievously. "What makes you think Nathan isn't already here?"

Chloe froze. "Excuse me?"

Taking her seat at the table, Evelyn's smile turned glacial. "For all we know, he could be entertaining some local beauty right this moment."

An icy shiver raced down Chloe's spine.

Had Evelyn flown halfway across the world to catch Nathan cheating?

"Zara?"

Hearing her professional name, Evelyn turned to see a pleasantly surprised middle-aged gentleman approaching.

"My goodness, is that really you?"

Evelyn rose gracefully to embrace him. "Mr. Knowles! What a delightful coincidence. Where are your lovely wife and Olivia today?"

Henry Knowles returned the hug warmly. "They're at the modern art exhibition. I'm meeting Julian Abascal for business and happened to spot you. How have you been? I heard about your departure from Luxe."
