Chapter 410

The media constantly speculated about whether she'd be abandoned again, but Nathan always silenced them with actions—a decade-long marriage without a single breakup rumor.

In Bassburgh, everyone knew Nathan Goldmann never entertained female company during business dinners. He'd simply walk away if anyone tried.

Victoria Knowles, once plagued by dating scandals, now chose dull soap operas over romantic roles. Not from lack of trust, but because their mutual respect ran deep.

Evelyn blinked slowly. "Father must have loved Nathan's mother very much."

If not for the de Armas family... Nathan might not have lost his soulmate.

Chloe nodded with a sigh. "After Mrs. Goldmann's accident fifteen years ago, Mr. Goldmann became withdrawn. He stayed in that mansion because she loved it."

Evelyn paused. That explained why Nathan preferred the secluded estate over city life. Why he'd remained unmarried all these years after losing Victoria.

Her heart ached. People craved fairytale endings—no one wanted love stories cut short by tragedy.

'But do perfect endings truly exist? We must cherish people while we can.'

After breakfast, Evelyn and Chloe encountered Mr. Abascal returning to their suite.

Julian Abascal appeared early thirties—thick brows, chiseled nose, hooded eyes embodying masculine beauty. Dressed casually with gloves, clearly heading out.

"Ms. Zara." Julian approached with a smile. "What luck. Just finished breakfast?"

Evelyn returned the smile. "Indeed."

Her gaze flickered to his attire. "Going somewhere?"

He nodded. "Golf with friends. Care to join?"

Evelyn didn't refuse. "Certainly."

Chloe's eyes narrowed at his obvious flirtation.

Turning to Chloe, Evelyn asked, "We're golfing with Julian. Coming?"

"What?" Chloe pulled her aside. "You're going with him? Aren't you worried he might—"

Evelyn chuckled at her concern.

"You'll be there, won't you?"

"True. I've got your back." Combat might be her only skill, but she excelled at it.

Julian led them to an expansive private course resembling a royal garden.

"Abascal!"

Several men approached. A blue-haired one slung an arm around Julian while eyeing the women. "Where'd you find these stunners?"

Julian shrugged him off. "Ms. Zara of Luxe Jewelry. Surely you've heard of her."

"The designer?" Blue-hair grinned, extending a hand. "Ms. Zara, your reputation precedes you. Though no one mentioned your beauty."

"Flattered."

Evelyn accepted the handshake gracefully, her smile never reaching her eyes.
