Chapter 413

Evelyn lay still, her back turned to Nathan as she slowly opened her eyes.

She had been feigning sleep ever since he dressed and slipped out of their hotel room.

Rising from the bed, she frowned. What could possibly make Nathan this secretive? He'd rushed them to Stoslo without explanation.

Her fingers tightened on the sheets. It had to be something monumental for him to act this way.

A sudden realization made her blood run cold.

"Could it be about his mother?"

Natasha Goldmann had been kidnapped and murdered in this very city. Was that why he'd come?

Meanwhile, across town in a luxury suite...

Dominic Kent stood before floor-to-ceiling windows, swirling a crystal glass of bourbon. His silk robe hung open, revealing sculpted abs that tapered into forbidden territory.

Rosalind emerged from the steam-filled bathroom, cinching her robe with trembling fingers. "Mr. Kent," she forced through clenched teeth, "will you honor our agreement now?"

She'd lured Nathan to Stoslo. This was her moment.

Dominic turned slowly. Ice-blue eyes raked over her as a cruel smirk played on his lips. "Naturally."

He set his glass down with a deliberate click. "Though you've withheld one crucial detail."

Rosalind paled beneath his predatory gaze. "I've told you everything!"

A photograph slid across the table. "Who is she?"

Rosalind's breath hitched. "Evelyn? What's she doing—" Her nails dug into her palms. "She's here too?"

Dominic's smile turned lethal. "So you do know her."

"That bitch ruined my life!" Rosalind spat. "She's Nathan's wife and Harrison de Arma's granddaughter."

Dominic's expression darkened. "The de Arma family complicates things."

Seizing her chance, Rosalind leaned forward. "Let me handle her. With Harrison in Zlokova, any... accident could be blamed on the Goldmanns. Two problems solved at once."

Dominic studied the venom twisting her pretty features. His hand shot out, encircling her throat. "I adore this look," he purred, thumb tracing her jugular. "They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. How delightfully true."

Rosalind forced a smile despite the terror clawing up her spine. "I live to serve, Mr. Kent."

There was no turning back now. With Dominic's help, she'd make Nathan watch his precious Evelyn suffer.

His grip tightened. "You scheming viper." His breath was hot against her ear. "You'd use me as your pawn?"

Rosalind's lips trembled. "N-no! I would never—"

Dominic's laugh sent shivers down her spine. "Liar." He shoved her away. "But your hatred makes you useful."

She collapsed against the sofa, gasping. The game had just begun.
