Chapter 426

Evelyn gasped sharply, her breath hitching. "You've actually gone and done it, Nathan!"

After what felt like an eternity, Evelyn began smoothing down her rumpled clothes. Nathan chuckled darkly, assisting her with deliberate slowness. "You're improving remarkably, Zoe. My lessons seem to be paying off."

"Flattered?" Evelyn pouted, her cheeks puffing adorably. This man grew bolder by the day - who knew he'd dare do such things right here?

Noticing her adorable irritation, Nathan's gaze softened with undisguised affection.

They said women only became clingy and spoiled when truly in love. Seeing these traits in Evelyn filled him with primal satisfaction.

Pulling her against his chest, he murmured, "I made a discovery today. Rosalind knew about my mother's abduction."

Evelyn stiffened. "She never told your grandfather?"

Nathan's eyes turned glacial. "She told no one - not Grandfather, not the Night Banquet members. She pinned everything on Harrison."

Silence stretched between them. Evelyn recalled Rosalind's desperate expression earlier - that silent plea for help, the lack of genuine loyalty to Dominic.

Was Dominic blackmailing her?

Not that Evelyn cared. Rosalind had crossed too many lines. Karma always collected its dues.

A sudden growl interrupted the moment. Nathan blinked before bursting into laughter.

Evelyn's face burned crimson. "This is your fault!" she hissed. "I told you I was starving!"

"Mm, my mistake," Nathan conceded, still grinning. "Let me make it up to you."

He drove them to an open-air restaurant near the amusement park, its fairy lights creating a magical ambiance. The place buzzed with international tourists, making the striking couple stand out even more.

Nearby, the amusement park glittered like a jewel box. A colossal Ferris wheel dominated the skyline, its slow rotation painting the night with streaks of colored light.

"Nathan!" Evelyn pointed excitedly. "Let's ride that after dinner! I've never been on one before." Her lower lip jutted out in that irresistible pout. "I can't leave Stoslo without experiencing this."

Amusement parks had been a luxury in her past life. Now, she intended to savor every moment.

Nathan's lips quirked. "As you wish."

After their meal, they joined the vibrant crowds. A clown distributed rainbow balloons to delighted children while carnival music filled the air.

Hand in hand, they approached the Ferris wheel. Nathan purchased tickets, and soon they were ascending in their private gondola.

Evelyn pressed against the glass as the world shrank below them, her eyes sparkling brighter than the city lights. Across from her, Nathan sat perfectly composed - though his gaze never left her radiant face.

To him, no view could compare.

Catching his stare, Evelyn grinned. "They say couples who ride Ferris wheels always break up." She delighted in Nathan's immediate scowl. Rising, she closed the distance between them, eyes gleaming. "But legend also says..." Her fingers traced his jaw. "...a kiss at the peak ensures forever."

As their capsule reached the apex, Evelyn sealed their fate with a kiss that tasted like promises.
