Chapter 66
Nathan felt a pang of pity for Vivian's lack of intelligence.
She had approached him, offered assistance, and confessed knowledge about the kidnapped children.
Didn't that essentially prove her involvement in the case?
Nathan's eyes turned icy. "Who are they to you?"
"Do you know their mother?"
Vivian's expression shifted. How could she have forgotten Nathan hadn't discovered this yet?
"Nathan, I... I overheard people discussing it."
"Who was discussing it?" Nathan's impatience was palpable.
Vivian trembled, her face draining of color. "Nathan, surely you don't suspect me? You know me better than anyone! I would never do something like this!"
Yes, he'd once believed her to be gentle and demure, incapable of crossing moral boundaries.
Yet after six years by his side, he still hadn't uncovered the true nature hidden beneath her carefully constructed facade.
What kind of monster would harm innocent children?
"You shouldn't be here anymore."
Vivian froze in disbelief. "Nathan, are you throwing me out?"
"Throwing you out?" Nathan's gaze was lifeless. "Did you mistake my household for your home? You were merely a guest here."
Just a guest. The words struck Vivian like a physical blow.
"Nathan, I—"
"Oliver, escort her out."
Oliver nodded, stepping between them. "Ms. Vanderbilt, I must ask you to leave. Security won't be as courteous."
Vivian clenched her fists, straightened her posture, and walked away with her head held high. The moment she turned, her expression twisted into something venomous.
She would find a way to claim Nathan for herself.
At Beach Villa—
Daisy returned home and excitedly recounted everything to Caleb, her eyes sparkling with joy.
Caleb's lips twitched. His sister's priorities always circled back to food.
Liam placed his hands on his hips. "So what if his place is huge? It felt cold and empty—nothing like our warm home."
"That's true." Daisy tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Why don't we kidnap Daddy!"
"Kidnap?" Caleb's eyebrows shot up. "How exactly would we manage that?"
"Caleb, you always boast about being the smartest person alive. Can't you figure out something this simple?"
Insulted, Caleb stood on the couch. "A genius mind shouldn't be wasted on such trivial matters. Besides, what about Mommy if we bring him home?"
Their mother still hadn't accepted their father! Daisy had nearly forgotten that crucial detail.
The trio sat in contemplative silence.
Liam broke it first. "On TV, when people get locked in a room together, things happen. We could try that—lock them in a room."
Caleb and Daisy exchanged surprised glances. Liam, who rarely participated in their schemes, had actually contributed a brilliant idea!
"Alright, let's do it."
Later that night—
The first floor of an exclusive club was swiftly cleared, with a dozen black-suited bodyguards lining the corridors. No unauthorized person could approach the private room.
A middle-aged man was escorted inside by security. When he saw the imposing figure seated like a king, his face fell. "M-Mr. Goldmann."
Nathan sat with his legs crossed, fingers steepled on his knee. His voice was glacial. "I'll ask one final time. Who was the woman from six years ago?"
