Chapter 475
Attack!
Nathaniel immediately shielded Isabella and Oliver.
Glass shards rained down upon his back.
"Take Christopher upstairs," commanded Nathaniel, his voice low and authoritative.
Isabella hesitated briefly.
Oliver's safety was paramount.
"Be careful!" She locked eyes with him, her gaze intense.
"Don't worry." A dark, seductive smirk played on his lips. "You won't become a widow."
Isabella was momentarily stunned.
How could he flirt at a time like this?
She gripped Oliver's small hand and hurried up the staircase.
Nathaniel moved to a secure vantage point to assess the threat.
Recognition dawned.
The assailants outside were...
Isabella reached the second-floor balcony with Oliver.
She looked down.
Her brows furrowed instantly.
Eleanor and Richard stood below.
They had brought nearly a dozen bodyguards.
The guards were violently assaulting her manor.
Pure hatred contorted Eleanor's face.
Thirty minutes prior.
Richard had consulted the specialist.
The doctor delivered devastating news.
Benjamin's condition was irreversible.
Fury consumed them.
Remembering how Isabella had desecrated the Kensington estate, their hatred burned white-hot.
They wanted her dead.
They mobilized their guards and stormed her property.
Eleanor suddenly looked up, sensing Isabella's gaze.
She scowled viciously.
"I never imagined you could be so cruel, Isabella! Harming an innocent like Benjamin! Threatening the elders!"
"Produce the antidote now! Or you will never know peace!"
"I will avenge Benjamin and my parents!"
Her voice dripped with venomous hatred.
A bitter taste filled Isabella's mouth.
They had stolen her shares.
They had destroyed her reputation.
Now they attacked her home.
Their malice knew no bounds.
She let out a cold, derisive laugh.
"Killing me won't produce an antidote. You're wasting time here."
"You should be watching Victoria. Monitoring the transfer of family shares."
Richard's frown deepened.
"Isabella! How can you still slander Victoria at a time like this? Have you no humanity?"
"Victoria has always been kind to you! She still speaks well of you!"
"Enough talk!" Eleanor snapped, turning to the guards. "She refuses to cooperate! Keep attacking! Destroy this house! Seize her!"
"I accept full responsibility!"
A few million meant nothing.
She would teach Isabella a lesson.
But the attacking guards suddenly froze.
They recoiled in unison, stumbling backward.
Their leader stared in abject terror.
He stammered, voice trembling.
"Sir... Madam... This manor... We cannot attack it..."
"Why not?" Eleanor scoffed. "The Montgomery family is not so poor we can't cover the damages!"
"But... This manor belongs to..." The leader tried to explain.
An immense, crushing pressure silenced him.
It felt like a vise around his throat.
He could feel a pair of sharp, domineering eyes watching from within the building.
A violent shiver ran down his spine.
"Truly, this manor cannot be harmed. Sir, Madam, we must leave. Immediately."
He grabbed Eleanor and Richard's arms, attempting to pull them away.
Eleanor was furious.
"What is inside? Tell me the truth! What trick is she playing?"
"Who pays your salaries? Why are you disobeying our orders? Release us!" Richard demanded.
The guards were too terrified to stop.
They hurriedly increased their pace, forcibly escorting Eleanor and Richard from the property.
If Nathaniel heard their insolence, the entire Montgomery family could vanish overnight.
Eleanor wanted to teach Isabella a lesson.
She never expected her own guards to betray her.
She shot a final, deathly glare toward the balcony.
"Just you wait, Isabella! This isn't over!"
