Chapter 119

The mere memory of Eleanor and William's gazes made Evelyn's throat constrict with emotion.

Isabella sensed something amiss and swiftly snatched the document from Evelyn's trembling hands.

Her expression remained eerily calm as she scanned the results, then tore the paper violently into shreds.

With a contemptuous flick of her wrist, the fragments scattered like snowflakes in the wind.

"Evelyn, you wretched creature!"

Isabella's fingers dug into Evelyn's collar with bruising force, her eyes burning with murderous intent.

Yet Evelyn continued laughing, crimson staining her pearly teeth and painting her pale lips scarlet.

"Isabella, you'll always be nothing but a cheap imitation," Evelyn whispered, the words dripping with venom.

A sharp slap landed across Evelyn's injured face as Isabella's eyes flashed dangerously. "Watch your filthy mouth, Evelyn!"

Isabella tightened her grip, hissing her threat. "I will be the Montgomery heir! I am Sophia Montgomery! Do you understand?!"

Evelyn studied Isabella's twisted expression with grim amusement, spitting blood as she declared, "I won't let someone as vile as you deceive my parents!"

Isabella's gaze turned glacial, then suddenly released Evelyn with a sinister smile.

"Go ahead then. Tell them!" Isabella stood, arms crossed in challenge.

"Tell them you're dying in three months. Tell them you'll be dead before spring." The hesitation flashing across Evelyn's face brought Isabella visible satisfaction.

Her lips curled maliciously. "Let me share another secret, dear sister."

Isabella leaned closer, her voice dripping with poison. "Eleanor has a weak heart."

"What?" Evelyn's eyes widened in shock.

Raising an eyebrow, Isabella chuckled darkly. "If you want to give Eleanor a fatal heart attack, by all means reveal your true identity."

"Then tell them you're terminally ill. That you'll be gone in months. Do you think they'll celebrate or mourn? How do you think your precious parents will handle such wonderful news?"

Isabella's voice slithered through the air like a venomous serpent.

Evelyn collapsed weakly to the ground, her vision darkening as icy numbness spread through her limbs.

But Isabella wasn't finished. "Don't even consider telling Alexander. Whether he'd believe you is irrelevant - first think of Henry's ashes, then consider Olivia Bennett."

She knelt, gripping Evelyn's chin with cruel fingers. "There are no lines I won't cross!"

Straightening her dress, Isabella wiped Evelyn's blood from her hands with disgust before turning to leave.

She'd barely taken two steps when a tall figure blocked her path.

Isabella's face paled. "What are you doing here?"
