Chapter 125
Evelyn froze, her breath catching in her throat as Alexander tilted her chin up. His warm breath brushed against her lips, sending her pulse into a frantic rhythm. A dark chuckle rumbled from his chest.
"I told you before—even if you die, it will be by my hand."
His voice, low and dangerous, coiled around her like a nightmare she couldn’t escape.
Evelyn’s heart hammered as she stared into his cold, mocking gaze. He wasn’t saving her. He just wanted to be the one to destroy her.
"Give me the earring," Alexander demanded.
Her fingers clenched tighter around the small piece of evidence. He had already destroyed proof of Victoria’s crimes once—she wouldn’t let him do it again.
She twisted away, but his grip was iron.
"Evelyn," his voice turned icy. "Don’t make me repeat myself."
She shook her head violently, her nails digging into her palm. "No! I’m taking this to the police. I won’t let Victoria get away with this!"
Alexander’s expression darkened. "You never learn, do you?"
With brutal efficiency, he yanked her against him, prying her fingers open one by one.
Panic surged through her, but the thought of Victoria’s smug face fueled her defiance. She fought harder, her voice trembling with fury.
"Alexander, how can you protect someone like her? I was a fool to ever love you!"
The words barely left her lips before his mouth crashed down on hers.
It wasn’t tender. It wasn’t loving.
It was possession.
Her mind blanked. The only thing she could feel was the heat of his lips, the sharp bite of his teeth, the way he stole her breath like he was stealing her will to fight.
For three years, he had never kissed her—not even in their most intimate moments.
Yet now, he did.
Evelyn shoved against his chest, but he only tightened his hold, his dominance overwhelming her resistance. Slowly, her struggles weakened, her body betraying her.
When he finally pulled away, she was breathless, her lips swollen.
Alexander smirked. "You say you don’t love me, but your body tells a different story."
Humiliation burned through her—until she saw the earring glinting in his hand.
Her stomach dropped.
He had tricked her.
Disgust twisted inside her. "You’d go this far for Victoria? Even selling yourself?"
Alexander barely glanced at her before turning toward the nearby lake.
Realization struck like lightning.
"Alexander, no!" She lunged after him, desperation clawing at her throat. "Don’t you dare!"
