Chapter 295

To be completely honest, Evelyn was the only woman Alexander had ever seen without clothes.

Alexander recalled being utterly intoxicated both times he'd supposedly gotten Victoria "pregnant". Only through Victoria's words the next morning did he learn they'd slept together.

Yet now, the blurred silhouette of Victoria in the shower repulsed him.

"Sob... Why, sob..." Victoria's heart-wrenching cries echoed from the bathroom.

Alexander grabbed the bedsheets and entered with lowered gaze, wrapping them around her.

"Come out."

As he pulled her from the bathroom, he noticed Victoria's legs were perfectly fine.

Displeasure flickered in his icy eyes as anger creased his brow.

"Alexander!" Victoria threw herself against his chest, her arms clinging like tentacles.

"Why, Alexander? Why did this happen to me? They took turns... It hurts. Why me? I feel so filthy, so violated! Sob..."

"You won't want me now, will you? Not after this. You once called me the purest girl you'd ever met. But your Lillian is tainted now..."

Alexander's fingers twitched at hearing the nickname "Lillian".

His Lillian.

He should have let her go when he fell for Evelyn.

So why did that name still twist his heart?

He knew he felt nothing for Victoria.

The internal conflict deepened his scowl.

When Alexander didn't respond, Victoria pushed away dramatically. She grabbed a fruit knife and pressed it to her wrist.

"What are you doing?" Alexander demanded. "Put it down."

Victoria shook her head tearfully. "You think I'm disgusting now. You'll never marry me. My life is ruined, my face changed. The man I love rejects me. What's left to live for?"

"I love you, Alexander. Maybe in another life..."

As she delivered her lines, Victoria's lips curled slightly as she applied pressure.

Alexander lunged forward, wrenching the knife away.

"Let me die! Just let me die!" Victoria fought hysterically for the blade.

The knife's edge sliced Alexander's hand, blood welling instantly.

Victoria paled. "Alexander! God, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" she babbled.

Alexander studied his wound calmly before fixing Victoria with an arctic stare. "You arranged Vivian's kidnapping, didn't you?"

Victoria froze mid-reach for the emergency button. "What? Why would I do that?"

"Wouldn't you?"

"Never!" she lied. "Unless... you don't believe me? Don't you trust your Lillian?"

"Trust?" Alexander's lips twisted sardonically. "How can I when you're standing here completely unharmed?"

Victoria's pupils dilated. She grabbed his arm frantically. "I didn't mean to lie! My legs were injured, just not badly. The doctor exaggerated! That wasn't my fault!"
