Chapter 364

The man stood frozen, utterly speechless.

Evelyn reached into the pocket of her waterproof jacket with deliberate slowness. She retrieved a tissue before bending gracefully to pick up the envelope by its corner.

"Did you contact the authorities, Mrs. Kingsley?" Her lips curved into a crescent moon smile.

Eleanor glared daggers at her. "Vivian, the police will arrive shortly. Don't even consider trying to weasel your way out of this."

"You should save your excuses for your darling daughter." Evelyn gave the envelope a meaningful shake. "Thank you for providing the evidence. I'm certain the drug dealer's fingerprints will be all over this."

The man's face went pale as he instinctively glanced toward Victoria.

Victoria's mouth twitched uncontrollably, her expression one of complete panic.

Evelyn's smile widened at their reactions. "Mrs. Kingsley, you might want to call your family attorney. I'm curious—how will you explain why your daughter's fingerprints are on this envelope?"

"What ridiculous accusations! Victoria's prints couldn't possibly be there!" Eleanor snapped.

"The forensic results will speak for themselves." Evelyn had no interest in further debate. She handed the envelope to Alexander. "Alexander, I trust only you with this."

Her gaze softened as she looked at him. "When I fell down that slope, I was terrified I'd never see you again."

Alexander's eyes held depths of unreadable emotion as he returned her gaze. "I won't allow you to disappear from my life again."

Victoria looked ready to explode as she witnessed their intimate exchange.

The police arrived shortly thereafter.

After briefing the officers, everyone was instructed to accompany them to the station for formal statements.

Evelyn entered the patrol car without hesitation. To maintain her innocent facade, Victoria quickly followed suit.

Stepping into the vehicle that once represented her worst nightmares, Evelyn felt an unexpected calm.

She was no longer the helpless Evelyn Sinclair of the past.

Even if someone pushed her off a cliff today, she'd claw her way back from the abyss.

After giving her statement, Evelyn emerged to find Alexander waiting with a fresh coat from his car, which he draped over her shoulders. Eleanor and Victoria exited another interrogation room at the same moment.

Victoria feigned distress, lowering her head to manipulate Eleanor's sympathy when she saw Alexander preparing to leave with Evelyn.

Eleanor immediately pulled Victoria forward. "Alexander! Victoria is your wife! How dare you flaunt your affair with this woman so shamelessly! What do you take my daughter for?"

Evelyn paused mid-step. "If Alexander shouldn't leave with me, then should he leave with your precious daughter instead?" she inquired sweetly before shifting her gaze. "Victoria, did you really think you'd walk free tonight?"

"Vivian, what are you implying?" Eleanor demanded.

Two officers approached Victoria before she could respond.

"Victoria Lancaster, you're under investigation for attempted murder. Please cooperate with our inquiries."

Victoria's face contorted in shock. "Officers, there must be some mistake! I would never—"

"My daughter is incapable of such things! Have you properly investigated? You can't arrest someone based on baseless accusations!" Eleanor shrieked.

"Ma'am, your comments constitute obstruction of justice and disrespect toward our professional judgment. We only make arrests with substantial evidence," the officer stated firmly.

"Evidence? That envelope?"

"Oh, it's far more than just fingerprints," Evelyn interjected smoothly. She produced her phone and played a recording—Victoria's voice clearly admitting her crimes in the forest.

Victoria's face drained of color as the damning words played. Eleanor's expression shifted through a spectrum of emotions.

Evelyn's gaze turned steely. "Surprised, Victoria? I recorded everything."

"You never expected this, did you? I came prepared because I knew better than to trust your sudden kindness. If I hadn't been worried about Ethan, do you think you'd have succeeded in pushing me? Your cruelty knows no bounds—willing to kill me and sacrifice your own son!"
