Chapter 65

The caller revealed his location before abruptly ending the call.

Evelyn immediately dialed Alexander's number, only to realize with a sinking heart that he'd likely blocked her.

Her contact list was barren - only one number remained: Henry Blackwood's.

After a moment's hesitation, Evelyn dismissed the idea.

Time was slipping away. With no alternatives, she hailed a cab and gave the driver the address.

The middle-aged cabbie noticed her pallor and obvious discomfort. "Miss, you look unwell. Should I take you to the hospital first?"

Evelyn shook her head with a weak smile. "No, thank you. Please just take me to the address."

Thirty minutes later, the taxi arrived at a remote countryside location surrounded by dense forests and lakes. Autumn leaves carpeted the ground.

An icy wind cut through Evelyn's thin clothing, making her shiver violently. The tumor in her abdomen throbbed mercilessly.

But thoughts of little Ethan's safety propelled her forward despite the pain.

She stumbled along the gravel path for what felt like miles before spotting a dilapidated cabin.

Her foot caught on a loose stone, sending her sprawling. Sharp gravel tore into her palms.

Evelyn clenched her jaw, brushing off the debris. These superficial wounds were nothing compared to Alexander's cruel accusations or the constant agony in her gut.

With tremendous effort, she dragged herself to the cabin door.

The locked door resisted her push. As she raised her hand to knock, it swung open violently.

Dominic Fletcher's smirking face appeared.

Before she could react, he yanked her inside with brutal force.

"Maddie, darling! I've missed you," Dominic crooned, reaching for her.

Evelyn shoved him away weakly. "Where's Ethan?" Her eyes darted around the dim interior.

Dominic chuckled, advancing. "Why rush to see that brat? We've got unfinished business." He lunged.

Exhausted from the journey, Evelyn couldn't resist as he pinned her against a rough wooden table.

"Stop! Dominic, you monster!" she screamed.

CRACK! His palm connected with her cheek. "Quit playing innocent! We both know what you are."

Blood trickled from Evelyn's split lip as she struggled. "You're lying! We never slept together!"

"Lying?" Dominic sneered. "That's rich coming from you, framing your own sister Victoria!"

Evelyn froze.

"Still playing the victim after three years in prison?" Dominic taunted. "You contacted me the day you got out, plotting to kidnap Victoria's son for ransom. Now you dare accuse her? Today, I'll expose your true nature!"
