Chapter 94
Evelyn's side collided violently with the sharp edge of the coffee table as she tumbled to the floor.
A searing pain shot through her abdomen, radiating outward in pulsing waves that made her whole body tremble.
She struggled to rise, her limbs shaking, only to be shoved back down by Margaret Blackwood before she could steady herself.
"You vile creature! If anything happens to my grandson, I'll ensure you suffer beyond imagination!" Margaret's voice cut like ice as she delivered another forceful push.
Already unsteady, Evelyn crashed to the ground again. This time, her temple struck the table's corner with a sickening thud.
Warm blood trickled down her forehead as dark spots danced across her vision. The world spun around her.
"My heart is breaking, Alexander! Why must Evelyn torment me like this?" Victoria began wailing dramatically, clutching her chest.
Alexander's gaze burned with fury as it swept over Evelyn one final time before he turned to scoop up a pale Ethan.
"Don't worry, our son will be fine," Alexander murmured to Victoria while striding toward the door. "And I'll make certain the perpetrator pays dearly for this."
His promise hung in the air like a death sentence over Evelyn's head.
Dizzy with pain, Evelyn forced herself upright. Her heart clenched when she caught Victoria's triumphant smirk over Alexander's shoulder.
The realization struck like lightning - Victoria had mutilated her own child's face to frame her. What kind of monster could do such a thing?
The image of sweet little Ethan's angelic face, possibly scarred forever, made Evelyn's chest constrict painfully.
After discreetly following them to the hospital, Evelyn had her forehead wound hastily treated before rushing to the emergency ward.
She arrived just as a nurse hurried out, looking frantic.
Victoria grabbed the nurse's arm, tears streaming down her cheeks. "How's my baby? Will there be scarring?"
"Scarring is the least concern right now. He's lost significant blood and needs a transfusion, but we don't have compatible blood in stock. As his mother, you could—"
Victoria's expression flickered before she interrupted dramatically. "Take my blood! Take all of it if it'll save my son!"
Evelyn nearly laughed aloud at the performance.
Such transparent theatrics.
Yet Alexander seemed to find it utterly convincing.
Frowning, he approached Victoria. "Victoria..."
"I won't let anything happen to our boy, Alexander!" Victoria declared tearfully before following the nurse.
She returned moments later, sobbing. "The doctor refused, Alexander! I can't donate while menstruating!"
Clutching Alexander desperately, she wailed, "What will we do? What if Ethan dies? How could Evelyn be so cruel? Why hurt our innocent child?"
Evelyn watched as murderous rage darkened Alexander's features.
Her stomach twisted as she turned away, heading straight for the blood donation center.
Knowing she shared Victoria's rare RhAB blood type, Evelyn could save Ethan.
After brief consultation, the doctor assured her weakened condition wouldn't prevent donation.
Evelyn gave 500cc of her blood - enough to leave her barely able to stand, let alone walk.
The world blurred at the edges as she slumped against the wall, drained in every sense. Yet through the haze, one thought remained clear: she'd saved Ethan, even if no one would ever know.
