Chapter 594

Nathan Blackwood had been in a decent mood—until Xavier Delmont's name was mentioned.

That imposter was everywhere. Someone needed to put him in his place.

Unfortunately, a powerful CEO like Nathan couldn’t afford to be seen acting petty.

Evelyn Sinclair had recommended Xavier because, aside from his occasional scheming, he hadn’t caused any real trouble. She was willing to give him a chance.

But then Nathan showed up and stole the spotlight.

No matter how well Xavier performed, Nathan would always be the center of attention.

They were given two small wooden boats. Seraphina Devereux, Cassandra Blake, and Vivian Lockwood boarded theirs, already excitedly discussing their strategy.

Nathan stepped onto his boat and turned, offering his hand to Evelyn. She glanced at it but ignored the gesture, hopping in on her own.

Xavier, the last one left, hesitated before quickly lowering his head and scrambling aboard, sitting as far from Evelyn as possible.

Nathan’s lips thinned, his expression darkening.

Just looking at that fake made his chest tighten with irritation.

He sat between them, deliberately taking up space.

Evelyn shot him a look but said nothing.

Onshore, Dominic Kingsley called out, "Alright, everyone! On your marks—Go!"

The other boat immediately started rowing away, laughter ringing out.

But on this one?

Nathan didn’t move.

Evelyn didn’t move.

Both were CEOs—leaving Xavier as the only one actually trying.

He gripped the paddle, rowing twice, but the boat barely budged.

Dominic watched through binoculars, wincing.

The director muttered, "I get the drama angle, but this is just painful to watch."

Dominic smirked. "You don’t understand."

The director waited for an explanation, but none came.

On the boat, Nathan inhaled Evelyn’s subtle floral scent, his mood lifting slightly. The scenery around them was breathtaking—the lake shimmering under the sun, distant mountains framing the view.

A thought struck him, and he asked softly, "Have you thought about where you’d want to go for your honeymoon?"

Xavier rowed harder, pretending not to hear.

The cameraman in the corner cringed.

This was supposed to be a divorce show. Were they veering into reconciliation territory?

Evelyn’s brows twitched, her expression turning icy.

"Anywhere you’re not."

Nathan’s eyes darkened. She didn’t want him around?

His jaw clenched, and he shot Xavier a glare.

Evelyn exhaled sharply and reached for the paddle. "Let me help, Xavier."

"Okay!" Xavier said eagerly.

Nathan’s expression turned stormy.

He snatched the paddle from Evelyn’s hands, his voice tight. "I’ll do it."

No way was he letting her do manual labor.

He sat opposite them and raised the oar.

"You know how?" Evelyn challenged.

Nathan smirked. "I pilot yachts. You think I can’t handle a paddle?"

Then he plunged the oar into the water—only for something to block it.

Nathan frowned and pushed harder.

Suddenly, Xavier screamed—and the next second, he was in the water.

Evelyn gasped.

Xavier flailed. "Help—!"

Panic flickered in Evelyn’s eyes. What if he actually drowned?

She turned to Nathan, silently urging him to act.

Nathan’s expression was pure disgust. This fake wasn’t just annoying—he was a damn good actor.

He watched Xavier thrash, unmoved. Then, finally, he sneered.

"If you don’t want to die, stand up."
