Chapter 670
Evelyn couldn't help but laugh softly. "You're overthinking it! Everyone in our family adores you, especially Donovan!"
At the mention of Donovan, Emily sighed dreamily, clasping her hands together. "I never imagined I'd actually marry my idol. I keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming."
Her smile was radiant, matching the bright winter sun that cast a golden glow over them. Though the air was crisp, the light was dazzling.
Evelyn's lips curved. "Donovan's the most composed person in our family, but he's always buried in work. If you ever feel lonely, come find me. We can go shopping or travel together."
She subtly hinted that Emily shouldn't break things off just because Donovan was busy.
Emily nodded eagerly, rubbing her hands together. "Um... Is Donovan wealthy?"
Evelyn blinked. After a brief pause, she quickly nodded.
"Absolutely. He has dividends from Sterling Enterprises, bonuses, and multiple investments. The liquid assets under his name alone are substantial."
Even if it was just for financial security, they had to keep Emily at all costs.
Emily swung her legs idly on the garden bench and giggled. "That's a relief."
Evelyn laughed but fell silent, unsure how to respond.
Footsteps approached from behind, followed by Donovan's dry remark. "How practical."
Emily stiffened and scrambled to her feet like a child caught sneaking candy. "G-Great God!"
Donovan narrowed his eyes at her. "If I weren't rich, would you dump me?"
"Of course not!" Emily denied instantly. "If anything, I'd cling to you even harder if you were broke."
Donovan smirked, clearly amused rather than offended. He extended his hand, and Emily hurried to take it.
He glanced at Evelyn. "Lin, I'll introduce Emily to the others. Your friend's here—you should go greet her."
'Is Natalie here?' Evelyn nodded, lifting the hem of her dress as she hurried off.
Natalie carried herself with effortless confidence, draped in a limited-edition coat from a high-end designer. Her presence was magnetic, her smile warm as she exchanged pleasantries with William.
William treated her like a daughter, letting her roam freely. Evelyn dashed over and threw herself into Natalie's arms.
"Nat! What took you so long?"
Natalie chuckled. "I came as fast as I could."
Lucas, standing behind Evelyn, coughed pointedly and pried her off Natalie.
"Evie, do you have any idea how heavy you are?"
Evelyn shot him a glare—she was officially disowning her brother.
Turning back to Natalie, she asked pointedly, "When's your boyfriend coming back?" She couldn't resist needling Lucas.
His expression darkened.
Natalie glanced between the siblings and laughed. "Probably in two or three months. He's booked solid with runway shows—it's a huge career opportunity."
Evelyn frowned. Adrian had always been well-known in the industry, but never this internationally sought-after. Overnight, his value had skyrocketed, and he was now a fixture at major fashion weeks.
The media couldn't get enough of him.
And every single booking had come through Natalie's connections. She was clearly pulling out all the stops to elevate his career.
"Let's talk inside. I'll make you coffee," Evelyn offered.
Lucas gritted his teeth, glaring at his sister.
She was insufferable.
Evelyn and Natalie headed inside, settling on the second-floor balcony. From their vantage point, they watched William mingle with guests, his smile never faltering.
Lucas lingered nearby, grinding coffee beans but stealing frequent glances at the women.
Evelyn pursed her lips. "Is Adrian reliable?"
