Chapter 687

Evelyn Sinclair was momentarily speechless. Oliver Sinclair's gifts were becoming increasingly extravagant.

The crowd instantly recognized the item—it was no ordinary piece.

"That must be worth a fortune."

"Absolutely stunning. I've never seen anything like it on the market."

Oliver grinned. "Not too expensive. Just 880 million. But I have plenty of money, and Pretty Lady deserves the best!"

Nathan Blackwood scoffed playfully. "You've got good taste, kid." He always swelled with pride when someone complimented his daughter.

The guests exchanged glances. They had assumed Oliver was just another child under the Sterling family's care. But no ordinary child could casually gift something worth nearly a billion.

Evelyn carefully tucked the pearls away. Fate had a funny way of circling back. Still, she couldn't accept such an extravagant present. She'd return the money to Preston Sinclair later.

"Do you like it, Pretty Lady?" Oliver asked eagerly.

Evelyn smiled. "I love it."

Just then, Lucas Sterling descended the stairs, cradling an enormous model. Oliver's eyes widened in awe.

Lucas set it down before him. "This is the Lego Universe Evelyn specially commissioned for you. One of a kind in the entire world!"

Oliver nearly leaped with joy, clutching the massive model. "This is amazing!"

Evelyn exhaled in relief. He genuinely adored it.

Though compared to his black pearls, her gift suddenly seemed childish.

William Sterling sighed dramatically and pointed at the model. "Oliver, we should bedazzle this with diamonds!"

Evelyn winced. Why didn’t I think of that?

She handed the pearls to the butler. "Lock this in my safe." The butler hurried off without hesitation.

The envious stares from the guests were impossible to miss.

Evelyn took Oliver’s hand, leading him upstairs. "You can play tomorrow. Time for bed."

Despite his excitement, exhaustion quickly claimed him. The moment his head hit the pillow, he was out.

When Evelyn returned downstairs, the party had resumed its lively atmosphere. She zeroed in on two elderly women, their nervous energy palpable.

William approached. "Evelyn, if you're tired, go rest. Lucas can handle things here."

Lucas, barely keeping his eyes open, shot him a look.

Evelyn shook her head. "There's something I need to settle first."

"What is it?" William frowned.

"Dad, don’t be upset if I ruin the mood. I know today’s special, but I can’t let this slide."

William looked baffled. "What are you talking about?"

Evelyn strode into the side hall where guests were playing cards. The two women beside her grand-aunt trembled, their expressions starkly different from the others.

She tilted her chin up. "These two—apologies, I’ve forgotten their names—what they said earlier was beyond unacceptable."

The room fell silent.

William’s frown deepened. "What did they say?"

"Why don’t you ask them?" Evelyn challenged.

The women shot to their feet, panic-stricken. "We didn’t say anything! Don’t drag us into this, Evelyn!"
