Chapter 702
Bennett turned and left without another word.
Evelyn Sinclair continued reviewing the investment proposal. Their strategy couldn't remain one-dimensional.
Alexander Sterling had already suggested re-entering the real estate market.
Everyone knew the industry had been stagnant for years.
But stagnation meant opportunity—for those bold enough to seize it.
Alexander’s argument had convinced her.
The AI project was stable now, running smoothly without constant oversight. It was time to shift focus.
That afternoon, Evelyn and Alexander devised a plan for a surprise inspection of the project team.
Evelyn wore a crisp white blouse and a sleek fishtail skirt that accentuated her slender waist and long legs. Her heels clicked against the floor as she strode into the department.
She stood at the center of the room, radiant and commanding. Even Alexander fell into step behind her.
Everyone knew who Evelyn Sinclair was.
The woman once dismissed as a scandal had clawed her way to the top with ruthless precision. Now, no one dared underestimate her.
The office was in chaos—employees chatting idly at their desks, gossiping in the break room, some even watching shows on their screens.
"President Sinclair?"
They had to distinguish between her and Alexander, so she was President Sinclair, not President Sterling.
The room fell silent.
Shocked faces turned toward them, eyes wide.
Evelyn smiled. "Working hard, I see. Where’s Mr. Reeves?"
People glanced around, confused. Then someone pointed toward the inner office. "He’s in there—"
"Thank you." Evelyn strode forward. Bennett knocked and opened the door.
"Who—? Oh. President Sterling. President Sinclair."
Jonathan Reeves sounded like he’d seen a ghost.
"Evelyn? Alexander? What are you doing here?"
Another voice cut through the air. Alexandra Montgomery.
Jonathan’s office now held an extra desk and computer—where Alexandra sat. Evelyn’s lips curved faintly. "You’re here?"
"Mr. Reeves was kind enough to accommodate me. It’s too noisy out there, so he gave me this space. First day, and already treated so well..." Alexandra shot Jonathan a grateful look. He nodded, pleased.
Evelyn and Alexander’s expressions remained icy.
"I’ll make coffee—" Alexandra started to rise.
"Don’t trouble yourself, Ms. Montgomery. Someone else can handle that." Jonathan smiled.
Evelyn scoffed.
The air turned frigid.
Jonathan’s smile faltered as he faced them. "To what do I owe this visit?"
Alexander stood silently, his presence alone enough to intimidate.
Evelyn took charge. "Mr. Reeves, your department receives the highest bonuses. Yet the effort I see doesn’t justify it."
Jonathan paled. "I—"
Evelyn’s gaze flicked to the small desk—and the computer screen.
Her eyes narrowed.
Alexandra had set their group photo as her wallpaper?
Was she that desperate to flaunt their connection?
For a moment, Evelyn was speechless.
She pointed. "If you can waste time on trivial matters, why not focus on actual work?"
"Trivial?" Jonathan’s face whitened further.
