Chapter 717

Nathan's casual movement sent an icy chill through the room.

Victor Langley's knees buckled in terror. He didn't dare question whether the object in Nathan's hand might be aimed at his skull.

Evelyn Sinclair accepted it without flinching, her composure unshaken.

'What kind of monsters are these people?' Victor's face drained of color. Bone-deep fear turned his blood to ice as tremors wracked his body.

Evelyn spun the weapon expertly between her fingers. Nathan then guided her hand, directing the barrel toward Victor.

Tension crackled in the air.

Nathan's expression remained blank, his voice dangerously calm. "Was it him? Just pull the trigger."

Impatience laced his words. The crimson in his eyes betrayed barely restrained fury. Consequences meant nothing to him - causing trouble was second nature.

But frightening Evelyn? That changed everything.

Victor collapsed to his knees, hands raised in surrender. "I beg your mercy! I was wrong! Mr. Blackwood, please spare me!"

They wouldn't be fooled by obvious deception. The company maintained two sets of books - one public, one private.

Victor never anticipated Evelyn's directness. She'd seen through the facade and demanded the hidden records.

Exposing those books meant prison for both Victor and Lawrence Sinclair.

His hesitation earned him the ominous click of the gun's hammer. Evelyn's glacial smile left no room for misunderstanding.

Life or ledgers? The choice was simple.

Twenty minutes later, the scene cleared. Victor led them to his home where the real books were hidden - too terrified of Evelyn's weapon to attempt deception.

Mission accomplished, Evelyn's team departed with the evidence.

Left behind, Victor collapsed in relief, mopping his brow.

Inside the car, Evelyn examined the weapon with quiet amusement. Her shooting experience made the toy gun's weight immediately obvious.

Bennett found himself unwillingly ushered into Nathan's vehicle by Harrison, while Nathan himself took the seat beside Evelyn.
