Chapter 727

Theodore coughed lightly. "Mr. Blackwood, everything has been taken care of. Should we—"

Nathan gave a dismissive nod. "Get someone to remove that broken microwave. Never purchase from that brand again. Absolute trash quality!"

Theodore's lips twitched as he thought, 'You're the one who keeps overheating everything like a caveman!'

"Right away, sir."

Though he disagreed internally, Theodore immediately complied. The boss's word was law in Blackwood Industries.

"Harrison mentioned something before leaving," Theodore continued carefully. "There's a woman who claims to know you wanting a position at the company, but you were occupied all day—"

Nathan's expression remained impassive. "What woman? I don't recall anyone."

Message received. Theodore would relay Nathan's exact response to Harrison.

Two days later.

Phantom Lounge.

Early spring chill still lingered in the air, sending most partygoers bundled in coats.

Not Evelyn Sinclair. Beauty over comfort was her motto.

The elite social event had drawn both Evelyn and Nathan among its distinguished guests.

Evelyn stepped out of her car in a daring crimson mermaid gown with dramatic puff sleeves. The silhouette hugged every curve while the bold design screamed confidence. A perfect blend of sophistication and edge.

Spotting Natalie Beaumont arriving simultaneously, Evelyn strode forward.

Natalie immediately linked arms with her. "God, it's been ages! I nearly stormed your penthouse yesterday!"

Evelyn smirked. "Missed me or my brother?"

Natalie pinched her arm in mock warning. "Don't start!"

Evelyn's grin widened. The lack of genuine protest meant Lucas still had a shot.

"I'm serious! Can't wait to officially call you sister."

Natalie's laughter abruptly died. A shadow crossed her features.

Evelyn studied her friend. "Heard Adrian's been harassing you?"

Between them, no topic was off-limits.

The elevator doors closed as Natalie scoffed. "Pathetic, really. Had he played his cards right, he could've maintained a decent career in smaller circles. But no—the idiot got high at Milan Fashion Week. Got blacklisted internationally. Now he's crawling back, begging for forgiveness."

Evelyn shook her head. One stupid mistake had sealed Adrian's fate.

"Don't you dare reconsider," Evelyn warned. "That trainwreck will drag you down."

Natalie rolled her eyes. "Please. His rivals are already tearing him apart. Why would I waste resources on damaged goods?"

The cold calculation in Natalie's voice reassured Evelyn.

No wonder Lucas had been "coincidentally" showing up at Natalie's office lately. The overprotective idiot probably feared a reconciliation.

Evelyn nudged her friend. "Speaking of brothers... what do you really think of Lucas?"
