Chapter 739

The crisis at Hart Enterprises was finally over. Sebastian planned to rebuild the company, but given his current situation, it was wiser to let professional administrators take charge first and oversee its complete liquidation.

As time passed, the media frenzy surrounding Evelyn and Sebastian faded into obscurity, as if it had never happened.

Not long after, Evelyn received an urgent call from Jonathan Reeves. Trouble had erupted in Sandford. Without hesitation, Evelyn rushed over, heading straight to Zenith Corp's headquarters.

A crowd had gathered at the entrance, sitting in silent protest. The sight made Evelyn's expression darken.

This was far worse than Jonathan had described. He had hired security to block the protesters from entering the building. Nearby, police cars and ambulances stood by, ready to intervene if tensions escalated.

Evelyn took a deep breath and stayed in the car for a moment, assessing the situation. Bennett called Jonathan out to meet them.

Ten minutes later, Jonathan emerged, dressed casually and wearing a mask to avoid recognition. "Ms. Sinclair..."

He felt ashamed that he had to rely on a young woman to handle his problems. Evelyn gave him a reassuring nod, her voice steady.

"Mr. Reeves, we know you've done your best. What's the current situation?"

Jonathan hesitated before answering. "We had this under control, but Lawrence Sinclair refused to back down. He stirred up a few of his allies to cause trouble. They're demanding the same compensation as the regular employees, which is completely unreasonable..."

Evelyn's lips pressed into a thin line. "Did you try negotiating with them?"

Jonathan scoffed. "The moment they heard they could get more money, they pounced like vultures. There's no reasoning with them. We've already given them fair treatment, but they're insatiable!"

Evelyn exhaled sharply. "The unveiling ceremony for this project is in a few days. We’ll have reporters and media there. If this isn’t resolved today, we’ll lose all credibility."

Their previous advantage would vanish overnight. Reputation was everything—they couldn’t afford to slip up now.

After a brief silence, Evelyn’s voice cut through the tension. "Bennett, prepare one million in cash."

Bennett stared at her in shock. Even Jonathan was stunned. Was she really going to give in to their demands?

"Ms. Sinclair, they’ll never be satisfied. If we give them money now, they’ll just keep coming back for more."

Evelyn smirked, her gaze fixed on the crowd. "I have a plan."

Bennett didn’t question her. He made a call to the bank, arranging for the cash to be delivered immediately.

Then, Evelyn stepped out of the car.

Jonathan and Bennett hurried after her.

The moment Evelyn appeared, the protesters grew restless.

"That’s the Sterling heiress! She’s loaded! Her company took over Zenith Corp and left us jobless! Make her pay!"

"Yeah! Why should she have all that money while we get nothing?"

The crowd surged forward, eyes gleaming with greed, like wolves circling prey. Bennett, familiar with Sandford’s darker side, stayed close to Evelyn, ready to shield her if needed.

Evelyn remained composed, her poise unshaken. Even in the face of hostility, she exuded an air of effortless superiority.

She picked up a megaphone from the ground, then tore open the bag of cash in her hands—letting the bills scatter across the pavement.
