Chapter 804
The office was thick with tension. Adrian Blackwood hesitated before speaking.
"I could be your informant. I've picked up some things about what the Old Master is planning."
Behind him, Harrison stifled a cough.
"Mr. Adrian, the Chairman is already well aware of Reginald Blackwood's activities."
Adrian's pulse spiked. So Nathan had complete control.
No wonder he hadn't cared about Adrian's surrender.
Adrian swallowed hard. "He's targeting Evelyn."
This was something he'd overheard by chance. A secret no one else knew.
The room plunged into silence so deep even breaths seemed to vanish.
Nathan shot to his feet, his gaze sharp as ice. "Explain."
Adrian lifted his chin, defiance flickering. "Is that valuable enough? I was going to tell Evelyn directly. You're getting a freebie."
He exhaled. "I caught the Old Master whispering with his butler. They mentioned her name, but I couldn't hear details. They were too careful."
Nathan's expression darkened.
His fists clenched, jaw rigid.
Reginald was cunning—and clearly hadn't abandoned his schemes.
After a weighted pause, Nathan's voice cut through the quiet. "Leave."
Adrian didn't move. "Uncle Nathan, the scandal with Vivian and me is spreading. You have connections at Horizon Media. Can you help—?"
Nathan's face remained stone.
"Vivian Lockwood isn't worth your time. She played Tristan for a fool. Stay away."
Just the mention of her made Nathan's disdain flare. She'd once urged Evelyn to leave him, to "find herself."
As if.
Vivian had built her entire career on the wreckage of her marriage.
Manipulative.
Adrian scowled. "Tristan messed up first. Regret won't fix that. Why shouldn't I be with Vivian? We love each other."
Knowing Nathan wouldn't budge, he turned sharply and strode out.
Harrison escorted him politely. Adrian muttered under his breath, "No wonder Evelyn keeps her distance. What woman could stand that attitude?"
Harrison paused. "The Chairman treats Ms. Sinclair differently."
Adrian scoffed, shooting him a look.
"If Uncle Nathan knows everything about the Old Master, why isn't he acting?"
Harrison offered a practiced smile.
"The Chairman still respects Reginald Blackwood. Until he makes a move, the Chairman won't intervene."
Adrian rolled his eyes. Harrison was clearly dodging the question.
"Fine. Thanks for nothing, Harrison."
"Safe travels, Mr. Adrian."
Harrison watched Adrian's car disappear before his smile dropped. He headed back upstairs.
Inside the office, Theodore Winslow was still processing the bombshell. Nathan was already shrugging into his coat.
"Mr. Blackwood, where are we going? Should I come?"
Nathan's tone was clipped. "Sterling Manor."
He needed to warn Evelyn. Who knew what Reginald was capable of?
Harrison stepped in just then. "Ms. Sinclair isn't home. She's at the Phantom Lounge for a meeting with a Gremlin executive."
Nathan's brow furrowed. "A social event?"
