Chapter 921

For days, Preston Sinclair had been itching to move his entire office setup to the hospital.

He wanted to stay with Evelyn Sinclair around the clock.

Evelyn's foot injury had nearly healed, but she'd gotten a full dose of Preston's clinginess. It was giving her a migraine.

Thankfully, Alexander Sterling was swamped with work at Sterling Enterprises. He issued an ultimatum, so Evelyn practically skipped out of the hospital in relief.

Instead of returning to Sterling Manor, she moved into Crystal Heights. The luxury penthouse had always been under her name.

Bennett finished most of the packing and escorted Evelyn over to inspect what else needed furnishing.

William Sterling had initially resisted the idea, but for Evelyn's happiness, he reluctantly agreed.

On moving day, the entire Sterling family—except Donovan, who was buried in research—showed up at Crystal Heights.

Evelyn's favorite interior designer had customized the space to her taste. The sleek, open-concept layout incorporated cutting-edge AI technology.

Evelyn surveyed the apartment, thoroughly pleased.

William, however, nitpicked every detail until Lucas looked ready to tear his hair out.

Bennett excused himself to return to the office. He opened the door—and froze.

"Mr. Sinclair—"

The name instantly drew everyone's attention.

Evelyn's eyelid twitched as she glanced toward the entrance.

There stood Preston, wearing that infuriatingly charming smile. His gaze lingered on Evelyn before nodding at William, who was already striding over.

"Uncle William, what a coincidence."

Coincidence? Evelyn nearly choked.

William narrowed his eyes. "Why are you here?"

Preston shrugged. "I live upstairs. Just moved in. Didn't expect to run into you all. What an honor."

William's mouth twitched. "Yes. What a... coincidence."

The kind of coincidence that reeked of calculation.

Preston was dressed casually, exuding effortless elegance. Evelyn refused to admit it, but he'd clearly been lying in wait by that door.

Lucas shot her a knowing look. Evelyn quickly averted her gaze and walked over.

"Mr. Sinclair, what a surprise. Why don't you join us for dinner?"

Preston's smile deepened. "Perfect. I'll cook. You can all sample my culinary skills."

William's suspicious gaze bounced between them. This felt rehearsed.

Evelyn was being framed. She genuinely hadn't known Preston lived here, let alone expected him to accept the invitation! But backing out now was impossible.

Preston added, "I happen to have ingredients upstairs. I'll go grab them."

With that, he vanished like smoke.

William clicked his tongue and jerked his chin at Lucas. "Go help him."

Lucas smirked at Evelyn. "Sure. Wouldn't want my future brother-in-law to strain himself."

Alexander's icy glare could freeze lava. William kicked Lucas. "Watch your mouth!"

Evelyn threw up her hands. "I swear, I had no idea about any of this."

William scoffed. "And your sudden move had nothing to do with him?"

Silence.

William finally snapped. "Are you two actually together?"

Evelyn glanced at Alexander, then at William, and gave a small nod.

The room plunged into silence.

After what felt like an eternity, Evelyn cleared her throat.

"Dad, Preston and I are serious. No interference."
