Chapter 963

Harrison Blake handed Evelyn's phone back to her, his face unreadable.

"Thank you," Evelyn said.

"You're welcome."

It was a call from Preston Sinclair, so she answered immediately.

"Beautiful, are you still working? Should I come pick you up?"

No one could resist little Oliver Sinclair's sweet, childish voice when he turned on the charm.

Evelyn's eyes softened with amusement. "I have an event to attend tonight, so I won't be home yet. Have you eaten, Oliver?"

"Oh no! What am I supposed to do? I can't eat properly without seeing you, Beautiful!" Oliver whined dramatically.

Her heart ached at his sad tone, but before she could coax him, Preston's deep, amused voice cut in.

"Don't listen to him. He skipped dinner but demolished every snack Bennett brought over earlier."

Oliver huffed. "I'm growing! Snacks are important!"

Evelyn chuckled. "Oliver, listen to your father. Too many snacks aren't good. And don’t forget—Bennett also brought your homework. Make sure you finish it."

Preston's rich laughter filled the line before she realized he was still listening.

"Don’t worry. Not a single problem will go untouched."

Thankfully, Preston couldn’t see her face right now. The way she spoke to Oliver sometimes made her want to hide in embarrassment.

Preston smoothly changed the subject. "Heading to Celestial Club tonight?"

Of course, someone like Preston would know about high-profile events.

"Yes. Are you coming?"

He sighed. "Oliver's nanny and security team are at the hotel packing. I can’t leave him alone."

"It's just a minor event. Don’t worry about it."

"Are you going alone?"

That was the real question he wanted to ask.

Evelyn smirked. "Since when have I ever needed a male escort?"

Preston exhaled. "Wait—no, I still think you’re more important. I’ll change and head over."

"Daddy, you're hurting my feelings!" Oliver protested loudly.

Evelyn burst out laughing. "I’m just bringing the new brand ambassador. You can’t steal the spotlight."

A brief silence.

"Fine. You’re the boss."

They exchanged a few more words before ending the call.

The car fell into silence.

The driver was used to it, but this was Harrison’s first time hearing such private conversations. The close quarters made it impossible not to overhear.

Evelyn suddenly remembered his presence and tensed. Would this alleged abuser spread rumors?

She shot him a sideways glance.

Harrison pressed his lips together. "I didn’t hear anything."

Evelyn scoffed. Which means he heard everything.

"What’s your relationship with Cassandra Blake?"

She should have asked sooner. If they weren’t connected, why would Cassandra sabotage Sterling Enterprises to benefit Harrison?

Harrison’s fingers tightened around his knee. "Who’s Cassandra Blake?"

The tell was too obvious.

This man can’t even lie convincingly.

Evelyn’s smile faded, her gaze turning icy.

No one spoke, but Harrison’s tension thickened the air.

The car stopped at the club’s entrance.

A valet opened the door.

Evelyn stepped out, her expression cool and untouchable. Stunning, yet distant—an allure that drew people in but kept them at arm’s length.

Inside, she spotted Cassandra mingling effortlessly and strode toward her with effortless grace.
