Chapter 967
Harrison Blake stood silent. His lips remained sealed.
Cassandra Blake smirked. "During your contract period, I need you to deliberately leak scandals to reporters and gossip bloggers. Get caught in a compromising photo or even trash Sterling Enterprises' products in a private chat. That should be enough to ruin them."
Evelyn Sinclair felt ice crawl through her veins.
The urge to push Cassandra off the rooftop surged through her. She’s practically begging for it.
Finally, Harrison spoke, his voice sharp. "Sterling Enterprises won’t be ruined. If anything, I’ll be the first one to go down. Do you think I’m stupid?"
The domestic violence allegations had already destroyed his reputation. Another scandal would bury him for good.
Cassandra laughed. "Of course, I won’t leave you empty-handed. I’m the one who secured this contract for you. Once it’s done, I’ll make sure you’re paid handsomely. Even if you leave the industry, you’ll live comfortably. Face it—you’re already finished here."
Her words were brutal. Harrison fell silent again.
Cassandra thought she had him.
Then his cold voice cut through the air.
"Find someone else to commit career suicide for you. Surviving in this industry is the least of my concerns. But if I end up dead, will you clean up that mess?"
Cassandra’s expression darkened. "Don’t forget who got you this deal. Do you think Sterling’s endorsements grow on trees? There are A-listers ten times better than you waiting in line."
Harrison scoffed. "I signed with Sterling, not you. You’ve got a grudge against them, but you’re using their leverage to threaten me? I’ve got nothing left to lose. Cancel my contract if you dare."
With a mocking laugh, he turned and walked away.
Cassandra seethed. This washed-up actor, barely clinging to relevance, dares to talk to me like that?
As Harrison left, he had to pass the alcove where Evelyn and Hailey Crest were hiding.
Behind Evelyn, Hailey tugged at her sleeve, signaling a retreat.
Too late.
They were too close. Any movement would give them away.
Harrison’s grim face appeared. His gaze flickered toward them—then he strode past without a word, as if they were invisible.
Hailey exhaled in relief.
Evelyn shot her an amused look. "If you were this scared, why did you follow me?"
Hailey stared at her like she was an idiot.
Evelyn hadn’t bothered to lower her voice.
Cassandra heard.
Her voice turned sharp. "Who’s there?"
Hailey pulled at Evelyn, but Evelyn patted her wrist reassuringly before stepping out.
She leaned casually against the wine cabinet, a cold smile playing on her lips.
"E-Evelyn? How long have you been here?"
A rare flicker of panic crossed Cassandra’s face.
"Long enough," Evelyn said smoothly. "Didn’t want to interrupt your little chat. Congratulations on finding your family, by the way."
Cassandra’s expression twisted.
She gritted her teeth. "Evelyn, we never had a problem until you had me sent to a psychiatric hospital. You understand why I want revenge, don’t you?"
