Chapter 53
Nathan grinned. "No particular reason, just curious."
"Are you interested in our godmother?" Daisy giggled, her eyes twinkling mischievously.
Nathan's expression froze for a split second before he recovered.
Daisy tilted her head, her smile widening. "Or maybe… you're interested in our mommy?"
Nathan paused, then looked down with a faint smirk. "What if I am?"
Liam and Daisy exchanged shocked glances.
"But you have a girlfriend," Daisy said, feigning disappointment.
Nathan's gaze darkened slightly. "Who told you that?"
Daisy shrugged. "A little birdie whispered it to us."
"She… isn't my girlfriend." Nathan wasn’t sure why he felt the need to explain himself to two children.
Liam frowned. "Then why do you spend time with her? Grown-ups would call you a player!"
Even if this man was their father, they weren’t about to hand their mother over to him so easily.
Nathan was momentarily speechless.
Daisy turned to Liam. "Don’t say that! He’s not a bad person. He bought us lobsters!"
Liam huffed. "You’re letting lobsters buy your loyalty?"
His sister was such a traitor.
Nathan ruffled Liam’s hair. "It’s not what you think. I’ll explain everything one day."
First, he had some things to settle.
Liam looked surprised but didn’t argue further.
After the meal, they were dropped back at the company. Once the kids were gone, Nathan unclenched his fist—revealing two strands of hair he had discreetly taken from Liam’s head.
"Oliver."
Oliver turned immediately. "Yes, Mr. Goldmann?"
Nathan’s voice was calm. "Take these to the lab."
He needed answers.
The Next Day
#Shocking: Mr. Goldmann spotted dining with Royal Crown’s child stars—are they his secret children?
Paparazzi had captured Nathan with Liam and Daisy at the restaurant, and by morning, the news had exploded across every tabloid.
Oliver hesitated before speaking. "Mr. Goldmann… about the news—"
Seeing Nathan’s frown, he quickly corrected himself. "I’ll have it taken down immediately."
How dare those vultures follow him?
Nathan didn’t respond. He was more curious about Evelyn’s reaction than the headlines themselves.
Meanwhile, Evelyn, Gregory, and Xavier were in a meeting, finalizing plans for her new jewelry brand.
"Ms. Vanderbilt, have you decided on the brand name yet?" Xavier asked.
Evelyn tapped her fingers against the table, deep in thought.
Then her phone buzzed—Sophia was calling.
Evelyn excused herself and stepped into the hallway. "I’m in a meeting, what’s so urgent—"
"Drop everything! There’s a crisis!" Sophia’s voice was frantic.
Evelyn’s grip tightened on her phone. "What happened?"
"Check the news! Liam and Daisy were photographed with Nathan Goldmann! The media’s speculating they’re his kids!"
Evelyn’s blood ran cold.
"I’ll handle it," she said sharply before hanging up.
She had warned Liam and Daisy about strangers—but now Nathan had somehow gotten to them.
