Chapter 207

The truth finally spilled out through Dominic's drunken confession.

Alexander's face darkened instantly, his eyes burning with unrestrained fury.

His fist connected hard with Dominic's jaw.

Dominic staggered back, his vision swimming from the impact.

Glass shattered as he crashed into the banquet table behind him.

Alexander didn't stop. He hauled Dominic up and delivered two more brutal punches.

Blood trickled from Dominic's split lip as his face twisted in pain.

No one dared intervene.

Alexander radiated terrifying rage, his anger so palpable it felt dangerous to approach.

For three years, Alexander had believed the worst about Evelyn.

Especially regarding her innocence. The realization of his blindness made his stomach churn.

Now the truth was laid bare, he couldn't face the guilt - or the haunting image of her face.

Watching the scene unfold, Evelyn allowed herself the smallest smirk.

Finally.

Finally, Dominic had revealed the truth about her framed disgrace.

Finally, her name was cleared.

The wounds in her heart ached slightly less.

But the scars remained, the burning embers of hatred still glowing within her.

"Dominic! How could you betray me like this?" Victoria shrieked, her eyes red with manufactured tears.

She had to defend herself now.

Eleanor immediately jumped to her daughter's defense. "Don't listen to this drunkard's nonsense! Everyone knew what kind of woman Evelyn was!"

Dominic spat blood, more afraid of Alexander's wrath than Evelyn's ghostly vengeance.

The beating had sobered him enough to realize his loose tongue had sealed his fate. Survival was his only concern now.

"I swear, Mr. Blackwood! Victoria ordered me to lie about Evelyn. Yes, I admired her, but I never touched her! And the kidnapping - that was all Victoria's-"

"Dominic Fletcher! God sees your lies!" Victoria cut him off. "I'll sue you for slander! Guards! Remove him before Mr. Blackwood has to!"

The security team dragged the semi-conscious Dominic from the ballroom.

Though removed, everyone had heard his damning confession.

"Just... just a misunderstanding," Victoria forced a smile, then turned tearful eyes to Alexander. "Darling, you can't believe-"

"I knew Evelyn was innocent!" Henry Blackwood thundered, cutting Victoria off. "You conspired with that thug to frame her! You'd kidnap your own son to destroy her? Unforgivable!"

Victoria shook her head, tears streaming. "Grandfather Blackwood, you can't believe a criminal's word over mine! Ethan is my child - how could I hurt him?"

"My daughter would never do such things," Eleanor said coldly, far calmer than her hysterical daughter.

"Hmph!" Henry Blackwood turned away in disgust. He believed none of their lies.
