Chapter 215

Seeing Dominic charge toward her, Evelyn remembered every cruel thing he had done to her in the past.

She barely had time to react when a sudden gust of wind roared behind her.

Alexander's strong hands gripped her shoulders, pulling her aside in one swift motion.

The familiar scent of his cologne enveloped her. Before she could process what happened, she saw Dominic's fist connect with empty air before smashing into a tree trunk.

Alexander twisted Dominic's arm with brutal efficiency.

"Ahhh! Stop!" Dominic screamed, but Alexander showed no mercy. He delivered a vicious kick to Dominic's knee, forcing him to the ground before sending him sprawling with another kick.

Evelyn expected Alexander to continue his assault, but instead, he pulled her into a tight embrace.

"Don't be afraid," he murmured, his voice low and urgent. "I'm here now. No one will ever hurt you again."

His words flowed over her like warm honey, surprisingly gentle yet laced with tension. He held her as if she might disappear at any moment.

Evelyn blinked rapidly, feeling Alexander's arms tighten around her.

Rain began to fall, light at first, then heavier. The summer breeze carried an unexpected chill.

Yet the heat radiating from Alexander's chest burned through their clothes, searing her skin.

Pressed this close, she couldn't tell whose heartbeat was louder - his or hers.

Just as she started losing herself in the moment, phantom pains from old wounds brought her back to reality. "Mr. Blackwood," she said softly but firmly, "if you don't let go, I'll have to make you."

Alexander froze as if waking from a dream.

"Forgive me," he whispered near her ear before releasing her.

He grabbed Dominic, who had been trying to crawl away, and slammed him against the tree. His dark eyes burned with deadly intensity.

"One chance," Alexander growled. "Who really kidnapped my son? And why?"

Dominic's swollen lips twisted into a sneer as he pointed at Evelyn. "Her! It was Evelyn! She paid me to take your boy!" He completely contradicted his statement from last night's dinner.

Clearly, someone had gotten to him first.

Alexander's arm pressed against Dominic's throat. "Choose carefully - do you value money or your life?"

Dominic's eyes widened in terror. "I-I swear it's true! That witch Evelyn planned everything!" He spat blood as he continued, "You think coming back as a ghost scares me? A gold-digging whore like you deserved to die—"

CRACK!

Alexander's fist connected with Dominic's face before he could finish.

Dark fury transformed Alexander's features. He rained blows on Dominic with terrifying precision.

Dominic's screams filled the air as blood poured from his mouth and nose.

By the time Alexander stopped, Dominic barely resembled a human being.

Evelyn enjoyed watching Dominic suffer, but if Alexander killed him now, Victoria would remain free.

She grabbed Alexander's raised fist. "Any more and you'll kill him."

Alexander froze mid-swing. His eyes burned with barely restrained violence, his breathing ragged.

Blood coated his knuckles - whether his own or Dominic's was unclear.

Without Evelyn's intervention, he might have beaten Dominic to death.

The drive back to Evelyn's apartment passed in heavy silence. The air between them crackled with unspoken tension.

They'd gone to confront Dominic for answers about Ethan's kidnapping. But someone had clearly gotten to him first.
