Chapter 289

The two thugs rushed into the pitch-black room, their hands flailing blindly in the darkness.

Just as they fumbled for their phones, a shadow darted past them from the far wall.

They spun around. In that split second, Evelyn hurled the chair she'd been clutching straight at them before bolting for the exit.

"Shit! She's here!" one thug cursed, arms raised to block the flying furniture.

"Don't let her escape!"

Knowing concealment was pointless now, Evelyn exploited their momentary distraction. She slipped past them as they entered, her heart pounding.

But her luck ran out at the doorway.

There stood Victoria Lancaster, flushed and half-dressed, flanked by two more disheveled men. The sight turned Evelyn's stomach.

"Vivian Prescott?!" Victoria shrieked, pointing with trembling fingers. "You were hiding here the whole time?"

The scarred leader licked his lips. "Clever girl. Fooled us good."

Evelyn didn't hesitate. She sprinted toward the distant gates, her bare feet slapping against cold concrete.

"Stop her!" Victoria's scream echoed through the warehouse.

Rage burned through Victoria's veins. She'd debased herself with these filthy brutes because of Vivian! And still had to pay them afterward!

Though if she was honest... she'd enjoyed it. Alexander hadn't touched her in months. The deprivation had been unbearable.

Footsteps closed in behind Evelyn. She pushed her exhausted body harder, the gates now just twenty feet away.

A meaty arm suddenly wrapped around her waist, yanking her backward.

"Enough running, princess," the thug growled.

"Let go!" Evelyn twisted violently in his grip.

The man laughed. "Not until we've had our fun."

"Disgusting pigs!" Remembering Sebastian's self-defense lessons, Evelyn drove her elbow into the man's solar plexus.

"Ugh!" The thug doubled over, his grip loosening.

The other men froze momentarily before the scarred leader barked orders.

Though Evelyn fought fiercely, hunger and lingering chloroform effects weakened her limbs. A throbbing headache blurred her vision.

As two attackers charged, she swept one's legs out from under him. The remaining thug pulled out a spray bottle.

"Hold still or I'll dose you again!" he threatened.

Evelyn's breath came in ragged gasps. She couldn't black out now - consciousness was her only weapon.

Victoria watched in shock. Since when did Vivian know combat skills?

She was definitely sharper than that idiot Evelyn Sinclair had been.

Not that it mattered now.

Victoria's lips curled into a vicious smile. "Everything you did to me? Do it twice to her."

She gestured dramatically. "Look at that face. Would be a shame to go easy on such beauty. Don't hold back, boys."

The four men advanced with predatory grins, circling their prey.
