Chapter 464
Evelyn understood his bitterness. How could mere reputation ever heal the shattered pieces of a broken family?
Sebastian turned to face her. The dangerous glint in his eyes vanished as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by nothing but warmth.
"Vivian, from this moment on, everything will belong to us."
Evelyn smiled and nodded. "It's yours. Blackwood Enterprises was always meant to be in your hands. I never intended to keep it. Now that it's returned to you, justice has been served."
Sebastian looked stunned. "You don’t want any part of this?"
"What I want most is to see Alexander broken and stripped of everything," Evelyn murmured, her brow furrowing in thought.
"Yet... I can’t shake the feeling that hacking into his system was too easy. It’s almost as if he let me do it."
"You think he knew what you were planning and didn’t stop you?" Sebastian’s expression darkened.
Evelyn fell silent. Alexander’s words echoed relentlessly in her mind. "The only person I’ve ever loved is you."
"Vivian? Vivian?"
"Hmm?"
She blinked, snapping back to reality as she met Sebastian’s tender gaze.
"What’s on your mind?" he asked gently.
"Sebastian…" She hesitated before speaking. "Could you leave Blackwood Estate untouched?"
His grip on her shoulders tightened, his expression turning grave. "Vivian, don’t be fooled by that old man. He orchestrated my parents' deaths just to seize the Blackwood fortune. He’s not the benevolent grandfather you think he is."
Evelyn bit her lip, conflicted.
Was Henry truly that ruthless?
If so, why had he shown her such kindness?
Even knowing she sought revenge, he had stood by her.
"Vivian." Sebastian’s voice was soft, like a spring breeze against her skin.
When she focused again, he was holding her hands, his eyes burning with emotion.
"You keep saying I saved you these past three years. But the truth is, you saved me."
"Huh?" She didn’t understand.
He didn’t elaborate, only tightening his grip, his gaze more intense than ever.
"Now that everything is settled, I have just one wish." He took a deep breath. "Marry me. Be my wife. I’ll spend my life cherishing you, protecting you. I’ll give you and Amelia everything you deserve. Vivian… will you marry me?"
Evelyn had always known Sebastian’s feelings for her. But beyond gratitude, she felt nothing romantic.
Still, she had promised herself long ago—if he ever proposed, she wouldn’t refuse.
She hesitated, then met his hopeful eyes with a soft smile.
Just as she parted her lips to answer, a cold, commanding voice cut through the office.
"She won’t."
Evelyn froze.
Her gaze snapped up—and there stood Alexander, his expression icy as he strode toward them with lethal grace.
