Chapter 466

"If this will bring Evelyn peace, I'll do anything."

"What?" Margaret Blackwood's eyes widened in shock. "Alexander, what are you saying? You despised that woman for years. Have you truly fallen for Evelyn?"

Alexander didn't answer. But the softening of his gaze spoke volumes.

"I'll arrange for you to move out soon. Don't bother me unless it's urgent."

He turned to leave, only to freeze when he saw the old man standing in his path.

Henry Blackwood gripped his cane, his stern expression belying the warmth in his aged eyes.

"Follow me," he commanded before turning away.

Alexander hesitated for only a moment before trailing after him.

Study.

The old master stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, staring at the overcast sky. A heavy sigh escaped him.

"What are your plans now?"

"Don't worry, Grandfather. Losing Blackwood Enterprises is temporary. I'll reclaim it."

Alexander's voice was firm, resolute.

Henry sighed again before turning to face him. "I'm not asking about the company. You know what I mean."

Silence.

Alexander knew exactly what his grandfather was referring to—Evelyn.

The old man tapped his cane against the hardwood floor as he approached. "You've always known things others didn't. When you married Evelyn, you came to me. You begged me to officiate that wedding."

Alexander's pulse stuttered at the memory.

Then, Henry continued.

"Everyone—including Evelyn—believed you were forced into that marriage. But the truth? You wanted her. You always did."

A flicker of panic crossed Alexander's face.

He looked like a guilty child caught in a lie.

Henry scoffed at his hesitation. "You loved her long before that wedding. You married her to claim her as yours before anyone else could. So why deny it? Why hurt her?"

A bitter smile twisted Alexander's lips. "I was wrong."

"Then fix it."

"She won't forgive me." His voice cracked. "She doesn't love me anymore."

The words burned like acid in his throat. The pain was unbearable—sharp, relentless.

Henry studied him. "I don't know if Evelyn still loves you. But I do know she'll never get too close to Sebastian."

Alexander's head snapped up. "What are you hiding, Grandfather? Why does Sebastian hate me so much?"
