Chapter 498
Like a frantic moth drawn to flame, Margaret Blackwood summoned Alexander Blackwood to her side.
Sebastian Whitman arrived shortly after, his presence slicing through the tension like a blade.
Clad in an impeccably tailored suit, Sebastian's usual aristocratic charm was now laced with something darker—something predatory.
Noticing Henry Blackwood, Alexander, and the rest of the Blackwood family gathered, Sebastian wasted no time. His assistant handed over a document before he delivered his ultimatum.
"This estate is mine now. Out of courtesy, I’ll give you twenty-four hours to gather your belongings and leave."
Margaret shot to her feet, her finger trembling as she jabbed it toward him. "Sebastian, you monster! First, you steal Blackwood Enterprises, and now you’re taking Henry’s home? Have you no shame?"
Sebastian’s lips curled into a humorless smile. "Shame?"
His obsidian eyes glinted with icy mockery.
"If any of you had an ounce of it, we wouldn’t be standing here."
"What—what are you implying?" Margaret sputtered.
Sebastian ignored her, locking eyes with Alexander instead.
"If you had even a shred of decency, Evelyn wouldn’t have been left to suffer at death’s door."
Then, his gaze shifted to Henry Blackwood, silent and pale. The hatred in Sebastian’s voice was razor-sharp.
"My parents wouldn’t have died in agony if not for your treachery."
"You dare lecture me about shame?"
Margaret’s fury withered under the weight of his glare.
Sebastian’s cold scrutiny swept over Henry before landing back on Alexander.
"You and your grandfather are responsible for the ruin of the Blackwoods."
With that, he turned to his assistant. "Make sure they’re gone by tomorrow."
"Yes, Mr. Whitman."
As Sebastian moved to leave, Alexander finally spoke. "Sebastian."
Sebastian paused.
Alexander approached, his expression grave. "Henry never meant to harm you or your parents. What happened was an accident. This estate was passed down through generations. I can’t let you take it."
Sebastian’s laugh was devoid of warmth. "You expect me to believe that?"
His refined features twisted into something dangerous.
"Worry about yourself, Alexander. You’re about to lose your son."
Alexander’s eyes darkened, his voice a lethal warning. "Stay away from Ethan. And don’t you dare go near Evelyn. We never divorced—she’s still my wife."
"What?" Margaret gasped. "Alexander, what are you saying? Didn’t you divorce that— Didn’t you end things three years ago?"
Sebastian’s phone rang, cutting her off.
Seeing the caller ID, his smirk returned as he answered, his voice softening unnervingly. "Vivian."
The contrast to his earlier tone was staggering.
Alexander’s jaw clenched as he watched Sebastian speak to Evelyn—his Evelyn.
Then came the words that sent a chill down his spine.
"Relax. I’m on my way. Wait for me."
