Chapter 734
Nathan's gaze was icy, his expression dark and terrifying. The patience he'd shown Evelyn had evaporated. Now, all he wanted was to lock her away where no one else could touch her. His fists clenched, the veins at his temples throbbing. His voice was rough, edged with barely restrained fury.
"Take it down. Or destroy the platform."
Harrison's face tightened. He nodded immediately. "Understood, sir."
Nathan wasn't in the mood for distractions. If Harrison lingered, he'd only be inviting disaster. Within twenty minutes, the trending news vanished as quickly as it had appeared. A scandal about a celebrity couple's infidelity quickly took its place. Evelyn and Sebastian's photos were scrubbed clean from the internet.
But Evelyn didn’t care.
Those few hours of exposure had been enough to plant the seed in people’s minds. The news hadn’t affected Sterling Enterprises’ stock, but Hart Corporation’s shares had soared.
Nathan exhaled, his mind sharpening. Something about this felt off. If Evelyn had wanted to be with Sebastian, why now?
He summoned Harrison again. "Dig deeper. I want to know everything about this."
Hart Corporation.
Sebastian lounged in his office, triumphant.
For once, no one was nagging him about the arranged marriage. But when he refreshed his phone, the headlines were gone. Furious, he called the platform—only to learn Nathan Blackwood had intervened.
His blood boiled. He dialed Nathan immediately.
"Blackwood, you bastard!" Sebastian snarled. "I backed you against Preston Sinclair! I even talked you up to Evelyn! And this is how you repay me? Ruining my one shot at freedom? You think you still have a chance with her? You forced them to take down my trending topic? Do you know how long it took to set this up?"
Nathan had almost hung up on the unknown number, but Sebastian’s furious rant stopped him cold. His grip on the phone tightened. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"If Evelyn and I want to be together, no one can stop us. You think deleting the news changes anything? I’m done with you. From now on, I’m team Preston!" Sebastian hung up, his chest heaving with rage.
Nathan’s expression darkened.
His instincts screamed that this wasn’t just about romance. He turned to Harrison. "Investigate Sebastian Hart and Hart Corporation. Now."
A chill settled over him, his silver watch glinting ominously.
Soon, a confidential report landed on Nathan’s desk. He skimmed the first few pages and smirked.
It was all a ruse.
His mood lightened slightly—but the sight of those photos still burned. He hadn’t even held Evelyn like that. What right did Sebastian have?
Nathan scoffed.
Harrison watched warily. Nathan’s moods were unpredictable, even to those who knew him best.
"Since Sebastian doesn’t want to marry that woman," Nathan mused, "we should help him."
After all, Sebastian had chosen the right side—for now.
Sterling Enterprises.
Evelyn left work early.
As planned, she and Sebastian needed to be seen together. She drove herself to Hart Corporation, her mind sharp, her resolve unshaken.
