Chapter 51
Evelyn knew her mother was right, but she couldn't wait for her mother to bear a son.
Those two wicked children posed a serious threat. She needed to uncover their identities and eliminate them immediately!
At Beach Villa...
"Mommy, aren't you going to eat? Why are you just watching us?" Caleb asked between bites, noticing his mother hadn't touched her food but was staring intently at them.
Daisy and Liam also sensed something unusual about their mother's behavior.
Evelyn turned to Daisy and Liam. "Have you been approached by any strange men recently?"
"Strange men?" They exchanged confused glances.
Evelyn lowered her gaze. "Never mind. If anyone tries talking to you, ignore them. Good children don't engage with strangers, understand?"
Liam seemed to grasp who this "strange man" might be. He shot meaningful looks at Caleb and Daisy.
Daisy scooted closer to Evelyn. "Mommy, we only met Uncle Adrian recently. No other men."
"Why did you meet him?"
"Don't be mad, Mommy!" Daisy said in her sweetest voice. "He doesn't know who you are, and we didn't tell him. He's Godmother's cousin, so he wouldn't hurt us!"
Evelyn took a deep breath and patted Daisy's head. "I've told you the entertainment industry isn't safe. By putting yourselves out there—"
What if Vivian and Laura, or even Nathan, decided to target them?
"Don't worry, Mommy," Liam interjected. "Uncle Adrian will protect us. Nothing bad will happen."
Evelyn's frustration grew. Adrian was friends with Nathan. Were her children walking straight into danger?
"No. You're not entering show business."
"But we already signed contracts," Daisy pouted. "The penalty fees are huge if we break them."
Evelyn was speechless. She felt like she might explode.
Caleb rushed to hug her. "Mommy, please don't be angry. Liam and Daisy just want to help you. With their intelligence, no one can bully them."
"Really? Wasn't your sister almost—" Evelyn stopped mid-sentence, staring at her three mischievous children.
"Wait a minute," she said slowly. "How did you encounter Vivian and Laura in the first place?" She'd been too upset about Daisy's near-kidnapping to question it before.
The three children exchanged guilty looks.
Daisy smiled innocently. "Godmother told us about them. Since Vivian and that old woman bullied you, we hate them!"
Evelyn sighed. Sophia kept "selling her out" at every turn!
"Mommy, please say yes," Daisy pleaded, swaying back and forth.
Evelyn felt utterly helpless. "You little rascals! Ganging up on me like this!"
They'd learned to act first and ask for forgiveness later.
The three children grinned triumphantly.
The next day at Royal Crown Entertainment...
Nathan arrived at the company, greeted by all the executives. Everyone knew Royal Crown was a subsidiary of the Goldmann Group.
Nathan's mother, Victoria Knowles, had once been Royal Crown's brightest star—the most beautiful woman in all of Bassburgh.
