Chapter 154

Evelyn finally got the answer she needed. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. Minutes passed before she realized she was still sitting on Dominic's lap.

Her legs felt weak when she tried to move.

She couldn't stand up.

It was as if her limbs had turned to liquid.

Dominic's warm lips brushed against her ear. Each light kiss sent shivers down her spine. His hot breath made her skin tingle.

Her face burned. Her pulse raced.

She was paralyzed.

"Stop... please..." Evelyn gasped, yet her body betrayed her, melting into his embrace.

"Relax. We're alone here."

Dominic lifted her effortlessly, positioning her to straddle his lap.

The position was impossible. He was too... substantial. Her thin skirt provided no barrier.

She blushed furiously.

Noticing her discomfort, Dominic adjusted her slightly. This only deepened her embarrassment.

Face to face now, she saw the hunger in his dark eyes.

Looking down, she couldn't miss the obvious bulge in his trousers.

Evelyn swallowed hard. Her mouth went dry. She needed to escape.

"Stay still-" Dominic gripped her wrist, his other hand anchoring her thigh.

Even through fabric, the heat between them was undeniable.

His calloused palm grazed her ankle - a roughness earned from years of training and driving.

"Why run? Thinking of Nathan again? Does being with me make you feel guilty?" Dominic's expression darkened suddenly.

Nathan. Her first love.

The name stuck in Dominic's throat like a bone he couldn't dislodge.

And Maxwell was still her husband.

This woman tormented him endlessly.

Yet he couldn't stop wanting her.

Dominic's hand traveled slowly up her leg, pausing at her calf.

He playfully squeezed, making her muscles twitch. Evelyn instinctively rubbed her legs together for relief.

But this only pressed her calves against Dominic's thighs.

Fire ignited where they touched, spreading upward until his abdomen tensed.

Evelyn was still trying to figure out how to negotiate seeing Alexander and Isabella.

"Mmm-"

Dominic's mouth captured hers before she could speak.

Her eyes flew open. She pushed against his shoulders, but when she parted her lips to protest, he deepened the kiss.

It looked like she was welcoming him.

"Ah... nngh..."

Dominic claimed her mouth ruthlessly. She grew lightheaded. Her lips went numb from the assault.

When her breathy moans reached him, his hand slid higher up her thigh.

Evelyn's sensitive skin prickled at his rough touch.

"What are you doing?" She panted, dazed.

Coming to her senses, she broke the kiss abruptly.

Dominic's wandering hands had hitched up her skirt hem.

The air-conditioned room felt suddenly cold against her exposed skin.

How long had they been kissing?

No woman could think straight after Dominic's attentions.

His smoldering gaze dropped to where his hands rested. He frowned. "No safety shorts today?"

Their eyes locked. He looked furious.

Evelyn yanked her skirt down angrily.

"Why do you care?"

"Answer me." His tone was parental, scolding.

He remembered removing her safety shorts that first night at the manor. Since then, he'd expected her to dress modestly.

His possessive streak was uncontrollable.

Evelyn didn't explain it was her first day in this ridiculous uniform. She hadn't known about the short skirt.

Of course she'd take precautions normally. The city was full of creeps.

"Trying to tempt someone dressed like this?"

Dominic gripped her chin, forcing her to meet his glare.

He wanted to punish her. Make her remember this lesson.

What if another man saw her like this? Who would protect her?

"Cat got your tongue?"

His anger grew. His hand slipped beneath her skirt, finding soft curls...

Evelyn pushed back, face flaming.

She tried to remove his hand.

But Dominic growled, "Keep fighting me and you'll never see the twins again."

She froze instantly.

The children were his ultimate leverage.

Dominic's fingers explored further.

A phone lit up on the sofa nearby - Dominic's private line.

Evelyn noticed through her haze.

His skilled fingers tormented her, yet pleasure built despite herself.

"Your... your phone..." she managed between gasps. "It's ringing..."
