Chapter 41
Evelyn's humiliation knew no bounds.
Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined Nathan would call her such vile names.
Dominic's grip on her delicate ankle was unrelenting. She recoiled, her mouth bitter with fear as those predatory crimson eyes devoured her.
His rough handling left angry red marks on her porcelain skin.
"Stop!" she gasped.
Thud!
Thud!
Nathan's kicks shook the door violently.
The wood splintered under the assault. Evelyn's already pale face drained of all color, her fingers clutching the sheets.
Trapped between the enraged man and the crumbling door, she suddenly found her lips captured in a searing kiss.
A commotion erupted outside.
Evelyn's world narrowed to Dominic's scorching breath and the sinful sounds of their entanglement.
Outside the bedroom.
Nathan spun around to face four uniformed officers and a security guard entering through the open door.
"Come with us!"
Nathan glared at the intruders. "Since when do cops interfere in lovers' quarrels?"
"Trespassing complaint," an officer stated firmly, gripping his arm.
Evelyn heard every word through the thin door.
Dominic had released her moments earlier.
Now she burrowed beneath stifling covers, sweat trickling down her neck despite the storm outside. The air hung thick with their unfinished passion.
She didn't understand why he'd stopped. Maybe some shred of decency remained in that ruthless man.
The bedroom window stood open.
Dominic leaned against the frame, lighting a cigarette with practiced fingers. After a deep drag, he dialed a number.
"Bring Dr. Grant. Same address. Now."
Under the suffocating blankets, Evelyn puzzled over his words. Why summon her physician? And what did he mean by "same address"?
The police intervention remained a mystery too. Probably Dominic's doing - he always had contingency plans.
Finishing his cigarette, Dominic turned to find her still hidden.
Rain pounded the windows as he strode over and yanked the covers away.
Evelyn scrambled back. "What now?"
Instead of anger, his voice softened. "Clean up. Dr. Grant's coming."
She blinked in confusion.
"You're bleeding." Guilt shadowed his features.
Evelyn's mind blanked.
She knew exactly what kind of bleeding he meant. The kind that had made even this beast pause mid-assault.
"What...how?"
Panic rising, she clutched the sheets tighter. A crimson smear the size of a coin stained the bedding.
In the heat of the moment, between Dominic's advances and Nathan's violent intrusion, she'd noticed nothing.
Now the sight chilled her.
Just over twenty-four hours since the aphrodisiac incident. Dr. Grant's warning echoed in her mind - potential infertility in worst cases.
Dominic said nothing, just studied her before exiting to the wrecked living room. Furniture lay overturned, cigarette ash scattered everywhere.
Evelyn inhaled deeply. She'd be fine. Just fine.
A dull ache in her lower back was her only discomfort. That had to be positive, right?
Grabbing clean sleepwear, she retreated to the bathroom.
The shower lasted ages. She scrubbed until her skin burned, then collapsed on the tiles, hugging her knees.
Only Dr. Grant's arrival forced her out.
"Let's examine you in the bedroom," the physician suggested.
Twenty minutes of probing questions left Evelyn alternating between pallor and blushes. The humiliation was excruciating.
"Early menstruation from overstimulation," Dr. Grant concluded, scribbling a prescription. "Herbal supplements three times daily. Complete abstinence for one month."
Evelyn's face burned crimson.
The middle-aged doctor delivered the instructions matter-of-factly before nodding to Dominic and departing.
Sebastian waited outside, taking the medical bag with a respectful nod to both before escorting Dr. Grant out.
As the elevator doors closed, Evelyn blocked Dominic's path. "You should go now."
Guilt gnawed at him. He'd faced near-amputation years ago without this level of dread. Her wellbeing consumed him entirely.
"Really leaving? Your body begged for more earlier," he taunted, icy composure returning.
Evelyn glared. "How dare—"
Dominic seized her chin, his whisper turning her ears scarlet. "That was just foreplay, darling. Imagine what the main event would do to you."
