Chapter 336

"You're reading too much into it. Doppelgängers exist everywhere. Look at Lillian."

Genevieve Prescott swirled her wine glass absently. "She has two professional body doubles for filming scenes. It's perfectly normal. If every lookalike meant blood relations, the world would be drowning in reunited families."

Her gaze drifted toward the observation deck where Evelyn Sinclair stood.

That fragile-looking girl had fire in her eyes.

Genevieve's expression hardened.

Evelyn was an obstacle to her daughter's happiness.

And Genevieve would move heaven and earth for Lillian.

She owed her late biological daughter that much. Every ounce of love she couldn't give her firstborn now belonged to Lillian.

Across the ballroom, Lillian Prescott perched at the bar beside her closest friend, picking at a fruit platter.

Cassandra Prescott lived up to her name—alluring, cunning, and dressed like she'd stepped off a Paris runway.

When Lillian first arrived at the Prescott mansion—a shabby, wide-eyed girl—the elite circles mocked her. Cassandra, the Weish family's illegitimate daughter, became her unlikely mentor in fashion and manipulation.

Lillian had learned well.

Even as they chatted, her eyes kept straying toward Dominic Blackwood.

Cassandra nudged her. "Stop undressing Mr. Blackwood with your eyes, darling. If you want him, say something." A sly grin curled her lips.

Lillian flushed. "It's not that simple. He's already smitten with Evelyn."

The memory of Dominic doting on Evelyn made her nails dig into her palms.

Cassandra exhaled a smoke ring. "So? Marriage certificates burn nicely. You're a Prescott. Act like one."

She demonstrated by adjusting her shawl, letting it slip just enough to make nearby men choke on their drinks.

"See? Men are simple creatures. You're gorgeous, wealthy, and untouched. Use that."

She pressed a tiny vial into Lillian's hand. "Special order from Switzerland. Two sprays in his drink, and he'll see only you. Odorless. Untraceable."

Lillian hesitated.

Cassandra smirked. "Grandfather's birthday gala. Hundreds of witnesses. If Dominic gets caught in a compromising position with you..."

Lillian's fingers closed around the vial.

She'd been the perfect daughter. The chaste starlet.

But perfection hadn't gotten her Dominic.

Maybe it was time to play dirty.
