Chapter 174
Evelyn sensed Dominic turning toward her.
She kept her gaze lowered.
"Maxwell... Maxwell came by this afternoon. We had a disagreement over something trivial."
Her voice remained steady.
"The button probably fell off during our argument."
She refused to feel like a criminal under interrogation. She'd done nothing wrong.
Dominic's voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. "What did he do to you? Why were you fighting?"
"Just words. Nothing physical. Olivia was here too - she stepped between us."
Evelyn finally met his piercing gaze, trying to explain herself properly.
She wasn't sure why she felt compelled to justify everything to him. Maybe because he was the father of her children.
After her explanation, silence stretched between them.
Then his warm breath, laced with that intoxicating masculine scent, fanned across her face.
Before she could react, his lips captured hers.
The kiss started soft. Too soft. That gentleness made every nerve in her body awaken.
As their tongues tangled, the air between them grew thick with desire.
Dominic's large hand cradled her neck, feeling her rising temperature. His other arm wrapped around her waist.
Through her pajamas, his fingers teased the curve of her bottom.
Evelyn felt her control slipping. She struggled to maintain composure, fighting the overwhelming sensations.
When she finally gathered enough willpower to push him away, she realized he'd maneuvered them from the doorway to the living room sofa.
The cold breeze from the open window brought her back to reality.
"You're blushing harder than when we conceived Alexander and Isabella," Dominic rasped, his hand sliding beneath her pajama top.
Evelyn jerked back, gasping. Her face burned.
She tried to stop his wandering hands, but it was too late. He'd already captured her sensitive peaks.
"Stop. The children are here."
Her fingers gripped his muscular arms uselessly. The strength beneath her palms made her pulse race.
Dominic flicked her nipple casually with his thumb.
"No... don't..."
Her breath came in short gasps, lips swollen from his kisses. She clawed at his hands weakly as heat flooded her body.
Her involuntary moans seemed to electrify Dominic. She felt his growing hardness press against her.
His hand traveled lower, pulling her flush against him until not an inch separated them.
The friction between their bodies sent shockwaves through her. Evelyn felt herself melting.
His scorching lips returned to hers, the kiss deepening until it stole her breath.
His hands roamed her bare back as her pajama bottoms disappeared.
"You make me tremble... burn..." he growled in her ear.
Their ragged breaths mingled, the air between them charged.
Evelyn's mind fogged, but she clearly heard Dominic's filthy whispers between groans.
"No... ah... stop..." Her body betrayed her, responding against her will.
"Such a good girl... you love this," he murmured before sucking her earlobe.
Just as she was about to surrender completely, Isabella's cries pierced the haze.
"Aunt Evie! Aunt Evie!"
Reality crashed back. Evelyn couldn't find her pants. Her pajama top hung open, revealing love bites.
"Coming!" She straightened her clothes and rushed to the sobbing child.
Isabella's injured eye took priority.
Dominic pulled her back, his desire still evident. The hard length pressing against her made her gasp.
"I need to check Isabella. This isn't exactly... child-friendly activity," she stammered.
His dark chuckle told her those words would haunt her later.
Back in the bedroom, Isabella snuggled close. "Aunt Evie, you smell like Daddy..."
Evelyn's cheeks burned as she kissed the girl's forehead. "What does Daddy smell like?"
"Nice. But sometimes when he's mad, he smokes. I hate that smell."
That night, Evelyn woke repeatedly to ensure Isabella didn't scratch her injured eye.
Despite little sleep, she woke energized. She prepared an elaborate breakfast - fruits, toast, eggs.
Isabella, more temperamental since her injury, asked between bites, "Daddy, you told Great-grandpa you're going to a small town. Can we come?"
"No." Dominic's CEO demeanor returned. "Finish your remedial classes. Sebastian will take you to school."
The twins exchanged disappointed glances before lowering their heads.
