Chapter 394

Evelyn Sinclair had just stepped into T Corporation's lobby when panicked shouts erupted. "Oh God! Someone's about to jump from Building C's rooftop! It's Gregory Sinclair, that businessman! Somebody do something!"

Her face drained of color instantly. She moved to follow the crowd, but then spotted Dominic.

"Mr. Blackwood, that businessman Gregory Sinclair is threatening to jump from Building C right now..." The words tumbled out before she could think.

Dominic seized Evelyn's wrist with iron determination. "I know everything. Stay here. I'll handle this."

He couldn't risk Gregory harming anyone in his distraught state - especially not Evelyn.

"I won't interfere. But we need to go now before it's too late," she insisted.

Seeing no time to argue, Dominic reluctantly pulled her along.

T Corporation's four buildings stood in a quad formation. While Dominic's office occupied Building A, the crisis unfolded at Building C - thankfully just a short distance away.

The scene below Building C resembled a media circus. Reporters with telephoto lenses jostled for position beside police barricades, while firefighters inflated a safety airbag.

Dominic whisked Evelyn into the private executive elevator, ascending straight to the rooftop.

Gregory Sinclair looked every bit the broken man. The once-distinguished businessman now sat slumped on the ledge, his unkempt beard and hollow eyes telling the story of a man who'd lost everything - his wife and child perished in the Greenview Regalia fire.

"Bring me Dominic Blackwood!" Gregory's voice cracked with raw anguish. "Where is he? I want to see him now!"

Seeing Gregory sway dangerously, Evelyn instinctively moved forward. Dominic yanked her back. "Remember your promise. This is my responsibility."

Tiny beads of sweat dotted Evelyn's forehead. "We can't reason with him like this! One wrong move and he'll fall! Let me talk him down first—"

"I'll go." Dominic's tone brooked no argument.

Evelyn reluctantly stepped back as Dominic approached the ledge. T Corporation employees visibly relaxed at his arrival.

"Mr. Sinclair! Mr. Blackwood is here now! Whatever you need to say, you can tell him directly!" they called out. "Please come down from there!"

At Dominic's appearance, Gregory grew more agitated, scooting perilously closer to the edge. A collective gasp rose from the crowd.

"You heartless monster!" Gregory's voice broke with sobs. "I paid millions for your 'luxury' Greenview apartments! Faulty fire systems... incompetent management... They're all dead because of you! Since you destroyed my family, I'll destroy your reputation!"

Dominic's response came ice-cold. "Jump if you want. The media will feast on your corpse for a day. I'll weather the storm. But you? You'll just be another suicide statistic. Your family's killers will walk free while you rot in the ground."

Evelyn's hands flew to her mouth. Was Dominic actually encouraging him?

Gregory teetered on the edge, literally and emotionally. Evelyn couldn't stay silent.

"Mr. Sinclair, please!" she called gently. "Your wife and child would want you to live! Come down so we can find who really caused the fire together!"

Dominic cut in sharply. "Ms. Sinclair, this isn't your decision to make."

The tension between them crackled like live wires. T Corporation staff exchanged confused glances - why were their CEO and this woman arguing when a man's life hung in the balance?

In the distraction, security moved to grab Gregory. The sudden movement startled him. With a terrified scream, he lost his balance—

Evelyn reacted without thinking. She lunged forward, grasping Gregory's flailing arm at the last possible second. But his dead weight dragged her over the ledge with him—
