Chapter 478

Dominic sensed Evelyn's unease. He pulled her close, his arms wrapping around her petite frame as if trying to merge their bodies together. "It's just temporary. This will pass soon."

A soft smile touched Evelyn's lips.

She rose on her toes, pressing a gentle kiss to his mouth. "We'll be waiting for you."

Dominic lowered his head, his lips brushing against the delicate curve of Evelyn's neck.

Then he was gone.

From the second-floor window, Evelyn watched the Bentley disappear down the driveway. A hollow feeling settled in her chest.

The thought of Dominic's "date" with Lillian Prescott made her skin crawl.

Logically, she knew it was just an act. But logic did little to ease the knot in her stomach.

Right now, patience was their only option to resolve the CD scandal.

Lillian adjusted her designer sunglasses, humming as she parked her Lamborghini near Restaurant Nine that evening.

Just as she stepped out in her thousand-dollar heels, a shadowy figure collapsed in front of her car with a dramatic wail. "Ah! You hit me! This rich bitch is trying to kill a poor man!"

Lillian froze. A filthy, disheveled man lay sprawled before her bumper, fake blood smeared on his arms and legs.

There was something disturbingly familiar about his face.

She'd been driving at walking speed. This was clearly a setup.

Normally, she'd have put this scammer in his place. But she couldn't afford to be late for her date with Dominic.

Snatching a wad of cash from her purse, she flung it at him. "Take this and disappear before I call the cops!"

The man's grimy hands scrambled for the money. When he looked up, recognition flashed in his eyes.

Abandoning his act, he lunged forward and grabbed her leg. "My daughter! My precious girl! Lillian, I've searched for you everywhere! Look how you live in luxury while your own father starves! Where's your filial piety?"

Lillian recoiled as if burned. This couldn't be happening.

The homeless man's face suddenly clicked - Donovan Sinclair, the stalker who'd been harassing her.

"Release me! You've mistaken me for someone else!" She kicked at him, revolted by his touch. "Keep this up and I'll have you eliminated!"

But Donovan clung like a leech. "No mistake! You're the spitting image of your mother Susanna. That birthmark under your left arm proves it! Everyone knows Jonathan Prescott adopted his daughter from an orphanage. Take my DNA if you don't believe me!"

The mention of her birthmark made Lillian's blood run cold. She needed to get that removed ASAP.

As for Donovan... she'd deal with him permanently.

More cars were arriving for dinner service. She couldn't risk being seen with this human trash.

Grabbing another stack of bills, she threw them at his face. "Here's your blood money! Now vanish! If you approach me again, my father Jonathan will bury you alive!"

"Such a dutiful daughter!" Donovan cackled, too busy gathering cash to notice her threat. "Don't worry, I won't bother you... unless I need more money!"

Lillian slipped away while he was distracted, her stomach churning with disgust.

What was she going to do about this so-called "father"?
