Chapter 458

Lillian's arrogance was misplaced.

She had spent years preparing to enter the Blackwood family. Genevieve had taught her high-society etiquette, piano, floral arrangement, and basic culinary skills.

She even studied investment strategies and business management with her mother.

With such refined talents, she was certain to become Dominic's wife...

Lillian's agent followed her, suggesting, "There's a dinner with the production team tonight. Attending could strengthen your connections with the director and producer. More roles would follow."

Lillian dismissed the idea instantly. "I'm too busy for social gatherings. Maybe another time."

No amount of persuasion could change her mind. Her agent sighed at her stubbornness.

As they passed another trailer, female voices drifted out. Lillian paused when she heard her name.

"Honestly Theresa, you resemble Lillian Prescott so much," one actress remarked. "Yet she's the lead while you're just an unnamed double. Life's unfair."

Theresa scoffed. "Only because of her father! Without his influence, would she even be here? Did you see her performance today? Like watching paint dry. Film school graduate my foot - I could act circles around her..."

Another voice agreed. "Rich privilege. Normal folks like us don't stand a chance."

Theresa added viciously, "Wealth can't buy talent. I saw her changing once - flat as a board, barely 34A!"

Peals of laughter erupted before Lillian kicked the door open, shocking the occupants.

Theresa froze mid-gesture, legs crossed on the makeup table. "M-Ms. Prescott?" she stammered.

Lillian's icy gaze swept over them. To her agent: "Apparently I'm overpaying Theresa Whitmore. Settle her account and remove her immediately."

The audacity!

Lillian's pleasant facade shattered under her fury.

Theresa panicked. "I didn't mean it! Please give me another chance—"

Lillian looked at her like garbage. "Dare to bite the hand that feeds you? I've no time for trash. Remove her now."

"Understood," her agent nodded.

Lillian memorized the other actresses' faces - their reckoning would come later.

As she stormed out, her agent coldly informed Theresa: "Pack your things. You're fired."

Theresa's hate-filled eyes followed Lillian's retreating figure.

Meanwhile, the Blackwood and Sinclair families finalized Dominic and Evelyn's wedding plans.

The engagement was set for the 18th.

Dominic sent invitations to political and business elites, including Jonathan and Genevieve Prescott.

Returning home, Lillian found her mother holding a crimson invitation.

"Who's getting married?" she asked, embracing Genevieve.

"The Blackwoods. Dominic and Evelyn's engagement is on the 18th. We're invited."

Lillian's hands trembled as she read the names. An atomic explosion detonated in her mind.

Impossible.

Cassandra swore she'd given Evelyn that damning recording.

If Evelyn loved Dominic, she should have left.

Why was the engagement proceeding?

Feigning illness, Lillian locked herself in her room and dialed Cassandra...

Meanwhile, Evelyn basked in joyful anticipation.

Her engagement was two days away - a moment she'd dreamed of.

Dominic worked late nightly to clear his schedule. Worried he'd lose weight, Evelyn prepared nourishing tonics.

Tonight found her cooking as the twins played barefoot nearby.

Watching them, Evelyn touched her stomach, imagining Dominic's loving smile.

This was her perfect life: loving husband, happy children, a warm home.

Her phone rang. Expecting Dominic, she answered to hear a shrill voice:

"Evelyn Sinclair! Did you watch that recording? I warned you to leave Dominic! Yet you're still marrying him? Don't you care what happens to him? You have two days to disappear - or I'll destroy him!"
