Chapter 304

Alexander's eyes lit up with excitement at the sudden realization.

Though a boy, he shared his sister Isabella's sweet tooth. Mommy's lips looked deliciously tempting, especially with how Daddy seemed to savor them. He wondered if the candy hidden in Mommy's mouth tasted as good as it looked.

Bright as he was, Alexander was still too young to understand kissing. The only explanation his young mind could conjure was that Daddy must be stealing candy from Mommy's mouth.

"I want to taste the candy in your mouth too, Mommy! What flavor is it?" Isabella bounced over to Evelyn, staring intently at her lips.

"N-no, sweetheart, we weren't eating candy." Evelyn's cheeks burned. How did one explain this to curious five-year-olds?

She shot Dominic a helpless glance, but he merely shrugged, equally at a loss.

They really needed to check if the kids were around before getting carried away.

This wasn't the first time their intimate moments got interrupted. Dominic made a mental note - two children were more than enough. Any more of these perceptive little rascals would be downright troublesome.

Alexander and Isabella studied their parents with skeptical expressions, tiny brows furrowed in suspicion.

Evelyn knelt to their eye level. "Daddy was kissing Mommy, just like how I kiss your cheeks. It's how grown-ups show love. Understand?"

The twins were precocious. Alexander's large eyes darted thoughtfully before comprehension dawned.

Daddy's kiss was different from Mommy's, but it still meant love. That made him happy.

"So that's how you show love? When we grow up, can Brother and I kiss like that too?" Isabella asked innocently.

"Only mommies and daddies—" Evelyn began.

Dominic's expression darkened. He scooped Isabella up like a misbehaving kitten.

"Didn't you have unfinished homework? No dinner until it's done."

Isabella squirmed indignantly. "Mean Daddy! Always threatening me!"

Still, she obediently trudged off to her room. Nothing came between her and mealtime.

Alexander clung to Evelyn protectively, glaring at Dominic. When his father turned, the boy tightened his grip.

"What's this about, Alexander Blackwood?" Dominic raised an eyebrow.

Alexander's gaze turned accusatory. "No more kissing Mommy!"

"Why not?"

"Look!" The boy pointed angrily. "Mommy's lips are all swollen! It must hurt!"

Dominic studied Evelyn's slightly puffy lips, then smirked at his son. "Doesn't hurt. Mommy likes it."

Evelyn ignored his teasing, hugging Alexander tighter while vowing to keep the kids occupied during private moments.

"Liar!" Alexander stomped. "Shame on you for lying! Mommy's sad! She doesn't like rough treatment!"

Dominic rolled his eyes but turned a smoldering gaze on Evelyn. "Is Mommy sad? The rougher I am, the more she loves it."

Alexander found Daddy's look utterly detestable.

Taking a deep breath, the boy wrapped his arms around Evelyn's neck. "I'll protect you, Mommy. Bad Daddy won't hurt you again. Does it hurt when you eat? How do we make the swelling go down?"

Evelyn's heart melted. "It doesn't hurt, sweetheart. Daddy isn't hurting Mommy. He loves me just like you do."

These two caring, brilliant children were heaven's greatest gifts.

Alexander relaxed slightly but maintained his scowl. "Only forgiving you because Mommy said so, Daddy. Next time, I won't be nice."

Dominic gave an indifferent shrug before his expression softened into something tender when looking at Evelyn.

Satisfied, Alexander scampered off to join his sister.

Grown-up talk time.

Meanwhile, Frederick Lockwood sat in his corporate office, listening to grim reports.

Stress lined his face.

"Mr. Lockwood, T Corporation has outbid us on every contract. Our financial outlook is dire." Manager A wiped his brow.

"Customs is holding our major shipment hostage," Manager B added. "Our liquidity is frozen, and banks refuse loans."

Manager C sighed. "Stock prices have plummeted. Shareholders are panicking as T Corporation buys up shares. Mr. Blackwood is your nephew, sir. What misunderstanding could prompt such aggression?"

Frederick's expression darkened.

How should he know what that mad nephew of his was thinking?

Dominic had always ignored Lockwood Enterprises. Why this sudden ruthless campaign? Was he determined to destroy his own uncle?
